About me:
Hey Sky fans! My name's Audrey and I created this fansite for my FAVORITE basketball team in the world! I don't play for the Sky. I don't work for the Sky. I don't know anyone associated with the Sky. I'm just your average Sky fanatic with too much time on my hands :-) Let's get to it...

The Players
Hover over the pictures with your cursor to get more info on each player. (photos from Sports Page Magazine and ChicagoSky.net)...

The Front Office
The Chicago Sky front office is AMAZING! They are passionate about women's basketball and are always very helpful and accomodating to the fans. Below are a few of my favorites. (photos from ChicagoSky.net and scanned from my media guide)...

The 2006 All-Star
Candice Dupree was the Chicago Sky's lone all-star in 2006. Dupree was chosen by the coaches to play in the All-Star game as a replacement for another injured eastern conference player. Candice was one of four rookies playing in the All-Star game. She was joined by fellow 'rooks Seimone Augustas, Cappie Pondexter and Sophia Young. Candice played 12 minutes and tallied 8 points (on 4-8 shooting), 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. The East won the game for the first time, 98-82. Katie Douglas was named the All-Star MVP. (photos from Sports Page Magazine, ChicagoSky.net, and scanned from my 'JET' magazine -- photos marked with an '*' are used courtesy of Lisa)...

The 2007 All-Star
In 2007, Candice repeated as the Sky's only all-star. Although Candice more than deserved to be voted in as a starter, she was ultimately chosen by the coaches as a reserve. In just over 13 minutes of play, Candice scored 9 points (on 4-5 shooting) and grabbed 4 rebounds. The eastern conference won for the second year in a row, 103-99. Cheryl Ford of the Detoit Shock was named All-Star MVP...

Candice Dupree also participated in the Shooting Stars competition during the 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. Some pics from NBA All-Star weekend...

The 2006 Season
The 2006 WNBA season marked the inaugural season for the Chicago Sky. The Sky finished its first season with a record of 5-29. Super-rookie Candice Dupree led the Sky in scoring with 13.7 points per game while center Benadette Ngoyisa led the team in rebounding with 5.6 per game. Jia Perkins led the team in assists, averaging 3.2 dimes per game. The Sky's first regular-season victory occurred on May 20th, 2006 (opening night) against the Charlotte Sting in North Carolina. The Sky's first home win occurred on June 29th, also against the Sting. The Sky also notched victories over New York, Minnesota and Indiana during this inaugural season. At the conclusion of the 2006 season, the first head coach and GM of the Sky, Dave Cowens, resigned.

The 2007 Season
Armed with a new head coach and GM (Bo Overton), a re-vamped coaching staff (Key, White and Reding), a veteran post (Chasity Melvin acquired by trading Monique Currie, the #1 pick in the Dispersal Draft, to the Washington Mystics), two significant free agent acquisitions (Canty and Christensen) and the #3 and #10 picks in the college draft (Armintie Price and Carla Thomas), the Sky were a much improved team in 2007. They completed the '07 season with a 14-20 record, successfully notching 9 more wins than in their inaugural season. The Sky were in playoff contention throughout most of the summer but were eventually beat out late in the season by the NY Liberty for the 4th and final playoff spot in the Eastern conference. Candice Dupree repeated as the Sky's lone All-Star. Dupree and Jia Perkins were both named 'Player of the Week' in July and Armintie Price was named 'Rookie of the Year.'

The 2008 Season
The Sky hope to continue to improve and build on the success of the 2007 season. They'll have to do this with a new GM/head coach...the third in the team's 3-year existence. With the departure of Bo Overton a few months prior to the start of the 2008 season, former Sky assistant coach Steven Key was named the new GM/head coach. With the #2 pick in the college draft, the Chicago Sky drafted 6'6" center Sylvia Fowles from LSU. The Sky also selected Quianna Chaney (also from LSU) with the 19th pick and Angela Tisdale (from Baylor) with the 33rd pick. The Sky lost Carla Thomas to the Atlanta Dream in the expansion draft. Stacey Dales retired from WNBA basketball to focus on her broadcasting career with ESPN.
