Nicholas Roesler (pronounced RACE-ler) began spending a lot of time experimenting with songwriting after moving to Minneapolis from his native La Crosse, WI. After making demo recordings, Nick was encouraged to share some of his songs with more than just close friends. Nick turned to friend/drummer extraordinaire Keith Larsen to provide drum tracks in Pasadena, CA. The first song recorded, "Decision," was chosen for local release on Rift magazine's first CD compilation in summer 2006. Spurred by the attention that the Rift CD was creating, the music was first presented live with acoustic shows around the twin cities.
In spring of 2007, "Decision" was picked for Broadjam.com's College Credit 101-Singer/Songwriter CD, and has been played on dozens of radio stations. "Decision," was licensed to use in two MTV network series, a Lifetime Television show and the Oxygen network. Nick asked good friend and music mentor Casey Virock about playing the music live. Casey agreed to play guitar/bass and suggested getting his Porcupine bandmate/drummer involved in the project. Chicane Theory made its live debut @ First Avenue's 7th St. Entry, Minneapolis, MN. Since then, the band has played all over the twin cities and have been chosen to play at music festivals in the US and internationally. Chicane Theory provided tour support for Adam Franklin and played alongside the likes of Tokyo Police Club and Portugal the Man.
Chicane Theory's 2008 debut EP Lose Track of Time was recorded by Roesler, mixed by Ed Ackerson @ Flowers Studio, and mastered by Bruce Templeton @ Magneto Mastering. Copies of Lose Track of Time are available at Electric Fetus. Cheapo, and Treehouse Records (MN); and Deaf Ear Records (WI) and a dozen online retailers. Since it's release, the disc has been blasted played on over 200 radio stations and continues to receive spins a year after it's release. Chicane Theory's full length record is set for a 2009 release.
