Acoustic pop/indie/folk. Laid-back, mellow, acoustic sounds. There are a few strings and some piano in there too, but the guitar and voice is really where it's at. Need comparisons? Chick sounds like Joni Mitchell, Everything But The Girl, Jewel and, naturally, Ani di Franco.
I'm a singer/songwriter from the UK, now living in Zurich, and have been making music ever since I can remember. Originally a classical guitarist, I went on to learn electric and acoustic styles. As a wee chick let I performed in a three-piece, a heavy metal and a rock 'n' roll band. Now fully fledged, Im flying solo... Currently Im concentrating on promoting and selling my latest album and running a record company, Naked Records, to help with this. The third albums on its way (no name yet) and Im in the process of rewriting, refining & arranging. My Story 1999: After a generous offer of support from a mystery benefactor I recorded and released my first album Free Range. The album contains fourteen original tracks, self penned, in an indie-folk style. The production is simple - mostly guitar and vocals with the odd bongo thrown in here and there. 2000: Moved to the US, built a music studio in the basement and, finally, could turn up the volume without annoying the neighbours. 2001: Gigged in Kansas City and received radio play on KKFI. an independent community radio station. 2002: Moved to Paris, where I ploughed my energy into writing for the second album - No Gimmicks. 2003: Collaboration with SoundfarmUK creating some alternative production of 'Free Range'. The resulting album was entitled 'Full Range'. Listen to the result at www.soundfarm.co.uk/Chick.htm. The end of 2003 saw another country shift, this time to Germany. There I worked on the arrangements for No Gimmicks and on a corporate project. 2004: August, recording began, in London, for No Gimmicks and the album was completed in February 2005. 2005: Started the UK-based record label 'Naked Records' and released No Gimmicks in April 2005.

Hi lovely, I've just found out that I've made it into a wee online showcase (out of 600 songwriters 12 of us have been voted in), which puts me in the running to win £15,000 to go towards making an album. But the tedious part, is now I need to infringe on your precious time, and ask if you could spare a mo to sign in and shoot a vote my way??!! I super appreciate your support and I absolutely promise promise promise that this is not a nasty hoax message. Love loads, Miranda x
just a wee note to let you know that most of us will be playing as a part of the lovely Shoreline at the Slaughtered Lamb, 34-35 Great Sutton Street, Farringdon on Thursday night. They're a great band, lovely people to boot, and it's my birthday, so come along and have a wee drinky.
Please note, however, that after we play i'll be babbling pure nonsense and drivvle, so say hi before hand.
Hey Chic, Nice to e-meet you. Lovely songs. We have similar stories. I originally started on classical guitar too and have shifted countries and cities more times than I can count. I'm coming back to the UK in Aug for a 5 week tour. Would be cool if you could catch a gig. All the best x nat
