Cast your minds back to the hazy Spring of 2004, when iPod's were unknown, all television was in black and white and the face of UK Punk Rock was a sad one, perhaps with a little emo tear running down the side. It was during this dark time that, in a blinding flash of inspiration (read: drunken idiocy), Stefan McKenzie did the unthinkable and asked JD Falconbrough to take up arms with him and take on the mighty world of music together. That means they formed a band, like.
Originally called The Write-Off's and playing soft sexual Jazz at nine times the speed with all the jazz elements removed, they soon realised that a few things were wrong: 1) The Name and 2) No one wants to hear soft sexual Jazz at nine times the speed with all the jazz elements removed. The world is unfair like that. So a decision was made! Cast away the burden of the Write-Off's and embrace the golden cup of majesty that is Chicks Dig Scars! And hey, maybe even start writing some catchy punk rock numbers along the way. It couldn't hurt.
Their twin releases, One Careless Owner and Chicks Dig Scars: Live And Drunk were put out on Sub Rosa Records to a number of warm reviews, their live show soon becoming legendary wherever they're called to perform. We're not really sure if that's because we're great or because we're awful, but frankly we'll take legendary status wherever we can find it.
So, dear reader five drummers, one guitarist, many pints and one UK tour later you find them where they are today - slightly confused by the technicalities of building a website and as infectious and life affirming as ever.
And the face of UK Punk Rock, you ask? It still looks sad. But it always looks sad, it's apparently far cooler.
