   Chico Chism's Blurbs
About me:
Chico Chism is one of the most well traveled blues drummers in the business. Best known as Howlin' Wolf's last drummer, Chico has also worked and recorded with Clifton Chenier, T.V. Slim, The Choker Campbell Band (featuring Big Joe Turner), Little Junior Parker, Sonny Boy Williamson II and many more. Chico played drums with the Howlin' Wolf during the middle 1970's. When the Howlin' Wolf passed away, he continued playing with the band known as "Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang". He was band leader for Roscoe Gordon for two years. During Chico's time in the Blues clubs of Chicago, he played with many great Blues artists including: Eddie Boyd, Sunnyland Slim, Willie Mabon, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner, Memphis Slim and many more. Chico's drumming was included on a vast number of studio sessions on several major Chicago Blues labels. He toured on the road throughout the United States and Europe with such people as: Otis Rush, T-Bone Walker, Freddy King, Lowell Fulson, and Junior Wells. Chico moved from Chicago to Phoenix in 1986. The New Times named Chico's band the "Best Blues Band" in their yearly "Best of Phoenix" issue.

Just remembering something Chico said to me after he heard me play. I think about it often and it's just as special now as when he said it. Glad I got to know him, if only for a fleeting moment in time.

Only 2 "Rock-a-billy & BEYOND" shows left at KBSZ 1250 AM

Tomorrow is the next to the last show for me over at KBSZ 1250 AM I am sad to say…
I will be sharing some of your favorite and the KBSZ 1250 AM listeners’ favorite Rock-a-billy, Country, Hill Billy, Gospel, Honky Tonk and more all for YOU!

CHUCK "WAGON" MAULTSBY and HIS OLD BAND sent me a song called “Nashville Crap”
by LITTLE DICKY AND THE GELDINGS for our
“10 O’Clock Funnies” (yea!)
AND after the NEWS (around 10:30 AM )
I will have
"Buckshot George" from the EARPS
in the studio talking about their brand new offering, “Here Comes The Earps”
(It really ROCKS!)
ALSO...
Wild Hare Records sent me some cool new stuff from
The Droptops and RON BERRY.

Even though I am physically moving I don’t think there will be any changes or disruptions in my radio show over at “Rock-a-billy & BEYOND” with all Andy Olson’s wonderful help :O)
I am going to miss living in this magical desert BUT I feel great things on the new horizon.

On my LAST SHOW Saturday April 14th with KBSZ 1250 AM I plan to dedicate the show to Arizona and I will play nothin’ but Arizona tunes for all of you.
