With passionate vocals and a rich velvet tone that caresses the ear UK Singer-Songwriter CHIDI takes you on a musical journey beginning at the first note. Borrowing from the rich traditions of classic Soul music and blending a fusion of Rock Pop and Jazz CHIDI delivers her own brand of UK Soul. If you listen closely, you can detect the influences of artists such as Angie Stone, Otis Redding and a little Tina Turner thrown in for good measure. Her first solo project entitled 'UnRehearsed' is filled with honesty as she expresses her faith, her love and her heartbreaks along this short but interesting journey called life. The album is currently getting a lot of airplay on national radio stations; particularly her track entitled ‘Wrong Again’ which has been well received furnishing her with interviews on Solar Radio with Gary Spence, Colourful Radio on the Wes Berwise show, Bang Radio, with DJ D’Nyce and the Urban Parlay show on BBC 3 Counties to name a few. CHIDI is also a backing singer for the ‘Queen of Disco’ Ms. Gloria Gaynor and can often be found touring with her in and around Europe. With her natural bubbly nature she displays a natural confidence and competence on stage, which must be attributed to her many years of performing. She has a delightful ability to put her audience at ease and convey the message of a song with great intensity and sincerity. Plying her trade in both religious and secular arenas, the songstress exudes a confidence and maturity honed from traveling and performing before contemporary gospel artists including Fred Hammond and Kirk Franklin as well as stage appearances alongside legends James Brown and Prince. With her debut release "UnRehearsed", Chidi offers the listening and viewing audience a return to music with true, raw, soulful emotion avoiding gimmicks and over-production. Think Jill Scott meets Tina Turner, Neo-Soul meets 60's-70's Rhythm & Blues and you'll get the picture. The Halo Bar. .. .. .. .. .. This CD is a must ! CHIDI is a great singer with a fantastic voice and profound lyrics. My favourite track is 'My Ray'. Next time I’m in London, I will make sure to see her perform.
