Biography
Born and raised in Japan...A Japanese female drummer / percussionist Chidori has always been a music lover
and a little singing bird since she was 2 feet tall. Her mom never told
her to shut up as she sang in the car the entire way to her piano lessons.
After giving up on piano thinking her fingers were too short and chunky
for it ... she joined the school band and picked up the trumpet and flute.
Later her friends introduced her to the world of rock music. She picked
up several intruments, even joined bands as a singer...but nothig else
brought such joy in her music life until one hot summer day she sat
behind her bandmate's drumkit.
She played in a few rock cover / original bands in Japan until she moved
to Virginia, U.S. in 2001.
Locally, she has been playing with bands/ musicians that have opened
up for Foreigner, Bryan Adams, the Dan Band, Israel Vibrations,
Polyphonic Spree, Violent Femmes, Norah Jones, Amos Lee, Maroon 5,
etc.
She has been an aspiring student of a great drummer Powell Randolph
and also studied hand percussions with respected Larry Emanuel.
She can be seen with JoAnna Lynne, The Office, tREmaiNE, Undercurrent, Mike Federali, and on the west coast
with her much loved alt-rock band PEDESTAL.
Influences
Among all the good music and musicians I love...

Hiii huney!! It's Jenn!! Just wanted to say, I was thinking about you the other day and wanted to say hi! Just booked a San Fran acoustic gig w/ John for the 20th. The booking guy went to the site and said, "I REALLY like your drummer!" :)
I'm proud to give you "Heavy In The Beats Vol. 1 - A Different Drum", the first installment in my FREE mixtape series dedicated to drums and percussion. "Volume 1" focuses on the avant garde side of the instrument, and features pieces from Billy Martin (of Medeski Martin & Wood), myself, and others!

Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
