About me:

Kristy Holt's Facebook profile

DISCLAIMER-Just so we are clear, now, on who and what I am:

* I tend to jump around. Slip-sliding through topics. I throw-up emotional shrapnel. Kinda like Gallagher, so you might want to don a poncho.

* I seek out entertainment on all levels. The biggest compliment I can give anyone is to say they entertain me. Really. Entertain me and I'll love you long time.

* I get off on the random. Anything that departs from the norm or the expected. That is entertainment that can't be scripted or directed.

* I want to be a ninja when I grow-up. I even wrote a blog on that. I'm just that dedicated.

* I'm quirky but I like to think it's a fun kind of quirky. Good quirky. For example, I think rabbits are cute and awesome and all that. Dude, I'm a vegetarian. But I would never pet one. They kinda freak me what with their adorable wiggly noses and black-hole eyes that swell and suckle with disapproving inspection. Watching. Judging. Feeding on your misdeeds. Telling you to man-up and get it done. F'n bunnies. What makes them so special anyway, huh?

Despite the occasional need for Cliff Notes to keep up, in the end, I'm worth it. At the very least, that is what I tell myself. It keeps me going. Hey, we all want to glitter. We all want to glow. We all want to be rockstars.

.. BTW: Go Buy this book now. Don't stop. Don't ask questions. Just go. :) Thanks!

Interests

  • General

***YOU CAN ALSO READ MY BLOGS ON VOX OR BLOGSPOT

Basically, I'm interested in not fucking up. In doing the right thing. I'm very interested in life. Observational commentary. Entertainment. The way we screw ourselves and somehow seem surprised by the result. How we bang our head against the same wall, bucket on top, repeatedly, and truly expect a different outcome than the previous 10 attempts. I find humor and fascination in the fact, that sometimes, on that 11th try, something different does in fact happen. That we weren't beaten by our own empirical experience. That we stupidly tried again and, damn it, it worked.

  • Music

..CURRENTLY INHALING:.. -MC Chris, Totally Michael, Cassettes Won't Listen, Laura Cheadle, Sia, The Big Sleep, Spoon, Arcade Fire, British Sea Power, Scissor Sisters, Bryan Greenberg, New Years Day, Say Hi, Paramore, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, SugarCult, Ingrid Michaelson, Louis XIV, Cobra Starship, Rilo Kiley, The Cribs, Film School, and The Playing Favorites.
..ALWAYS GOOD:.. -Bowie, Chili Peppers, The Killers, The Pixies, Joe Strummer, Tom Petty, Costello, Prince (old school), Patsy Cline, Elton John, Zepplin..... Insert any group in here, other than industrial or heavy screaming bands and I probably like them. Or have used them in a montage or two ;)
  • Movies

Some people turn to medication or therapy to help them deal with the pressures of life. I have an on-going drama playing in my head at all times. These aren't necessarily day-dreams. Just a very long, seemingly non-ending stream of vignettes. We all want to be loved, baby bears. Don't kid yourself. - Here are a few that I can't live without. * FIGHT CLUB: If I could find a way to crush and snort this film, I would. I've come pretty close. Really. I'm not joking. * NOTORIOUS: This is the most perfectly executed film ever. * THE LION IN WINTER: Stop whatever you are doing and add this to your Netflix and watch it. THIS is why we have movies. THIS is what they should be. * TRUST: Hal Hartley at Harl Hartley's best. It changed my life. I had never seen anything like it. I didn't know movies could be so small. So gloriously, fabulously small. * OFFICE SPACE: It may seem cliche at this point, but one of the proudest claims I can ever make is that I saw this movie in the theater. Before all the hype. Before it all. I came away knowing I had seen something that had to be seen by others of my kind. Imagine seeing it on the "big screen". Now imagine that it was your first time seeing it. Yeah. I had that moment. * Japanese monster movies: These make me insanely happy. Not just in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 way. I've loved these since I was a kid. ..
  • Television

Trust me here. Tap a vein and let's get going: You should be watching/Tivo'ing: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA * SCRUBS * THE OFFICE * DEXTER * ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA *30 ROCK *SPACED ..
  • Books

DOSTOEVSKY. PALAHNIUK. THOMAS HARDY. ROTH. VONNEGUT. Dostoevsky is the human soul unleashed. Passion. Idealism. Stumbling misguided intentions. Insightful misunderstandings. It's like an episode of 'Three's Company' just without the short-shorts and the Regal Beagle.
  • Heroes

I admire anyone who stands-up. Who just gets up and believes in something, as little as that thing might be, and just keeps plowing ahead. Some days, plowing through the muck is all you can do. Scraping the carnage of the day off your boots, setting them at the front-door, ready for the next day. The next trip out. The optimism of humanity never fails to amaze me. ..

    Oh, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me, I am small and weak,
I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold
    the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have
made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things
    you have taught my people.

Let me learn the lessons you have
hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.

Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my Spirit may come to you without shame.

That fvcking contract is killing you. Buy an iPhone and jailbreak it. It's a chroot hack with privilege escalation to run 3rd party apps Apple doesn't endorse yet. Mine runs background processes! I've enabled Java! I shoot video with my iPhone. It's full tilt boogie freeBSD UNIX now that I broke out of the OS X root jail. Check out the Theme on this screen capture. I know you bleed orange, even if the Vols lost to the measly University of Wyoming Cowboys IN KNOXVILLE last season.

Yeah, removing them before turning the oven on would be a very good idea!! As much as I love cupcakes, I'm not that much of a snob - I even like the grocery store's bakery!!
  • Dec 23 2008 8:33 AM

Omg I was SO asleep - I worked from 8 to 8 yesterday at Limelight and was dead on my feet when I got home. I miss YOUR face, lady!
We should play sometime soon :)
  • Dec 23 2008 8:24 AM

I noticed you've been all MIA and stuff.
You have a wonderful Day o'Santa! I'm hoping to make some cupcakes, but since I only use my oven to store cupcake boxes, I suspect I'll just end up buying some :)
