Chief Haney was created from the combination of four unstoppable forces: Earth, Water, Wind, & Fire, otherwise known as Will, Matt, John & Danny. John and Matt had met each other on a sweltering summer day in New York, 2006, while they picked up Will and Danny at Columbia University during an intermission of a Belgian speed dating event. They had been the only ones who all filled in "kind of like sausage" as an answer to the question "Is religion important to you?"
The men quickly realized that they also could all play instruments, and soon began to play music together. After a period of time where they just lip synced to cover songs, and not wanting to advertise themselves as an actual band, they promoted themselves as the WMDJs.
Gradually writing originals and riding on the success of their hit song, "Yo, Where the WMDJs?", the four decided to move on and write some originals.
Coming from a variety of different backgrounds, Will the film major, Danny and Matt both different flavors of scientists, and John as the architectural theory major, the group is always moving in new directions, but they all like to say they bring a certain energy to their music. They are happy to be in the city writing music, and whenever they get a chance to play shows, they happily take it.
haha nooo. money took me by the balls and i couldnt afford to make the CD. so i put together an "EP" version and set it to stream for free on the website.
but, i changed the background, and if i ever were to make a CD, this new one would be the album art. its not as artistic, but just as tasty (not really).
