Chika Asamoto is Tokyo and "Island of Gods", BALI based saxophonist. Composer and producer formed band with IKE (Composer, Sampling and Mix ) and MOMO (Synthesizer programming ) Their music has been established a genre that goes beyond the notions of jazz, neo-classicism or Ambient music. However the sound is grounded in improvisation, blending concepts and principles from both Eastern and Western ,..PRIMITIVE.. and *FUTURIST” comtemporary music.
Chika Asamoto Graduate of the world acclaimed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Chika became the first professional female saxophonist in Japan when she joined fusion group ''Crystal Moon'' （Colombia Japan）following her return from the U.S. in 1985. She turned solo three years later, releasing her first album in 1988. With more than eight albums to her name in addition to performing with industry greats David Matthews & Mark Egan. She also performed in Jazz Matazz tour of Japan. Jazz Matazz is lead by charismatic MC, Guru . She went to tour and performed with such legendary Jazz artist as Donald Bird (T.P) , Lonnie Liston Smith (Key,Piano). Guru made Chika famous among HIP HOP fans on the tour.
Although Chika’s rich full sound and beautiful tone is the first thing one notices, it’s her distinctive approach to soloing fueled by a passion for the adventurous that holds your attention. Jan Garbarek, Wayne Shorter and David Liebman redefined the sound of the soprano saxophone. It may be possible to see Chika joining this lineage. Her writing encourages unanimity on the move, providing a diverse landscape which transports the listener.
In 2000 Chika formed band which name is AMBIENT7 with Momo (Synthesizer ,Programming) and IKE (Engineering ,Programming) 3 albums are released . Their recordings and composition have been applied multimedia situation such as films, television documentaries, fashion events. Such Festivals as “Rainbow2000”(Japan) ,”Foreverpeace “ (Korea) and Such Company Party as Virgin Cola Launchin party in Japan, Koushin Sato Fashion Show, TAG HeuerChristmas party for V.I.P(Tokyo Japan) and more...
Regarded by many in the music industry as one of the world’s finest female saxophone players, Chika is the favourite of companies throughout Asia and Japan for doing private client events. In 2008 ,Chika and band performed hroughout S/E Asia and Japan during April and May and will be featuring at events during the F1 week in Singapore end September. In the following year performed at Jak Jazz Festival and releases her new album titled "Passion" on 2nd August, 2008.
