"...they inhabit that nebulous middle ground between country, bluegrass and whatever it is that Tom Waits does." - Monday Magazine, Victoria, B.C.
"...the album (Middle Age Wasteland) is well-rounded with elements of black humour narrative and off-kilter aesthetics...the album is pretty damn good...and a good listen for the whole dysfunctinal family." - Brand X Media
WINNERS!!! Favourite Group and Favourite Local CD (Middle Age Wasteland) 2005
- Monday Magazine Reader's Poll Victoria, B.C.
Hailing from Nellie Furtado's home town, Children of Celebrities sound nothing like her! Their debut CD, released in 2005, features twelve original songs showcased in an acoustic setting - guitars, bass, mandolin, mandola, egg, fiddle - with the occasional trumpet and harmonica added for good measure. This is a band that will play at the opening of a car door...including gigs all over Vancouver Island and Vancouver, B.C. as well as radio play on college radio stations across the country, the CBC and a couple of television appearances.
