Voted Fredericton’s “best band” by HERE magazine, this five-time Harvest Jazz and Blues act is gaining favor from the underground to the airways. With album sales in 5 different countries, Chillin’ Room is amplifying into 2008. These impressive road-warriors have also shared the stage with names like “Do Make Say Think”, “God Made Me Funky”, and “The Golden Dogs” and have been showcased in festivals like Evolve and the Sunseeker’s Ball. CR is emerging as one of Eastern Canada’s newest premiere acts with a dynamic live performance and an ever-expanding fan-base.
Chillin’ Room renders rock that’s heavily weighted in gifted storytelling. The 5-piece group consists of vocalist and guitarist, Matt McGuire, lead guitarist and vocalist, Andrew Cotter, bassist, Tayce McIvity, drummer, Scott Sampson, and percussionist, JD LeJeune.
“Their tales of life and love will resonate with anyone.”
Wilfred Langmaid of The Daily Gleaner
Chillin’ Room’s living lyrics consciously defend both the blessings and burdens of life, delivered through infectious melodic harmonies and contagious hooks that stay with you throughout the day. The interchanging of free-flowing melodic guitars adorns unmistakable and resounding bass grooves, which characterize the songs. These ultra-catchy gems are pulsated through LeJeune and Sampson on percussion and kit. The duo interchanges complex rhythms that accentuate CR's tricky timings and tempo changes.
“One can almost taste the melodious traces of East Coast rock flavouring.”
Matt McCann of the STU Aquninan
After only one year of the release of their freshman album entitled, The Melting Pot, Chillin’ Room has received promising reviews in the media across the Maritime Provinces,
“ The Melting Pot is a 12-song CD without a single weak link – just like the band…they are going far.”
The Daily Gleaner, Wilfred Langmaid
Recently relocating back to the studio, another innovative project is due in the spring. The anticipated release of their new album is heightening and should be the catalyst to a long and successful future in Canadian music for the group.
“These guys are amazing!”
