Born in Bristol, Jake has come up through the acid house parties and underground scene of the 80s and 90s. He has played out professionally since 1995 at such places around Bristol as Ripsnorter (resident), Lakota, Club 19 (resident), The Black Swan, The Depot and The Trinity, plus in 2005 he performed several times at Glastonbury Festival.
Jake is the powerhouse behind Chillout Culture, putting on club and festival Chillout rooms, original live visuals and filming, chai cafes and DJs. He is well known for his chillout sets ranging from deep psychedelic lounge and world dub, to more jazzy, funky upbeat sessions, while not being occasionally averse to breaking out into full on funked-up house n' breaks or tribal psy-trance sets.
In 2005, collaborations with Dark FM Internet Radio included running his own radio show, and setting up a live club broadcast direct from Ripsnorter at The Trinity, Bristol, with Nuw Idol (WellWicked Records) performing a live trance set.
Jake is now living in beautiful Pembrokeshire, Wales, where he has set up a DJ recording studio and audio-visual company. He also puts on DJ workshops and is starting to collaborate on writing live psychedelic breakbeat.
Mix CD releases include State Your Destination, Psy-Namite, No Turning Back, World Domination, and Vision.

Astrix returns to the UK for his most ambitious tour yet. On Fri 30 January he makes his debut at Bgham’s Q Club alongside local legend Sabretooth, who’ll be launching his new album, and Dejavoo live. Then on the Sat he’s following in the footsteps of dance music greats Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Infected, taking on one of the world’s top venues, the o2’s incredible Indigo. As well as playing a live set of upfront tracks from his forthcoming third album ‘Red Means Distortion’ — and of course all the classic tracks that have kept him in the DJ Magazine Top 50 for the third year running — he’ll be launching new digital EP ‘One Step Ahead’, a limited edition multi-media production available on USB stick only. He’ll also be bringing along HOMmega label mates X-noiZe, Krunch and Delirious, who’ll be joined by the Antiworld residents. With X-noiZe and Krunch launching their new albums ‘Wheel of Misfortune’ and ‘Booster’, this promises to be one of THE psy trance events of 2009. The credit crunch is hitting everyone hard and we know you want to party more than ever… so we’re keeping advance ticket prices as low as we can. As our New Year’s present to our loyal fans, all advance tickets are being kept to just £20 (London)/£12 (Bgham) and capacity restricted to 1200 (London)/600 (Bgham). But be warned — at the time of going to press almost half of the tickets for o2 were sold out already!!!
