I cycle through many artists and genres, but this is what's at the top of my list right now:
Bach, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Bjork, Cat Power, Day-Mar, Dizzy Gillespie, Dose One (and pretty much anything from the Anticon label), Duke Ellington, Edith Piaf, Elliott Smith, Gillian Welch, The Horrorist, Joanna Newsom, Kimya Dawson, Louis Armstrong, The Old 97s, Ray Charles, Sahara Smith, Saul Williams, and Tom Waits
Movies
I really like movies where Japanese kids chop each other to pieces. Artsy films are also a must, and Hayao Miyazaki is a god. Also, I like old detective movies where the hero has to go down to the docks to rattle some cages for a dame he knew was trouble the moment he saw her but took her case anyway because times were tough and you know how dames are.
Television
Books
My favorite book is usually the last one I read, but I THINK my favorite author would be Flannery O'Connor. I also LOVE a good comic book, my favorites being Strangers in Paradise, Transmetropolitan, Kabuki, and Jimmy Corrigan.
I just finished Reading "Love in the Time of Cholera," and now I'm having my first taste of Salmon Rushdie. Yum!
And I know these don't count as "books," but I'll stay up all night reading webcomics, and I've collected here my favorites so far (in no particular order):

I'm not one of those cool nerds who fixes your computer and makes lots of pop-culture references. No, I'm that OTHER kind of nerd: the one who sits reading in the corner at huge parties (yes, that was me you saw last weekend). I use phrases like "mercury switches," "bird of prey castings," and "He looks just like Victor Hugo!"
Who I'd like to meet: Ramon Perez! You should check out his webcomics, ..Kukuburi and Butternut Squash!
Other than that, most of the people I find interesting are either dead or imaginary.
hello, m'dear! Been a while...Hear your moving right along with your work. That's very exciting! What's your sched? I'll come by and say hi to you and the kids.
