CHINA SIR (中華肆) formally known as MC Sir (MC肆) has been a fixture in China’s budding hip hop scene over the past few years. Born into a broken home in the distant city of Yicheng, China and raised by his grandfather, who was the most important presence in his childhood. Reasons unknown to the then young CHINA SIR, his grandfather lost everything and were forced to live in an abandoned warehouse. Insulted and ridiculed by his peers for being poor and having nothing, Hip-Hop like it has for so many other under privileged in other countries reached Yincheng City and became an outlet for his emotions. Despite their poverty, his grandfather encouraged him to pursue music, so at the age of 15 he left for the capital of China, Beijing.
There he worked random jobs to support himself and also worked as a DJ and party MC at some clubs. CHINA SIR slowly built up a reputation for being a freestyle and lyrical mastermind. After two bad record deals he started his own label called China Hip-Hopper (嘻玩派) and headed the largest and most well-known Hip-Hop families, Ablaze Crew (大肆院). Fast forward…..Self realization and still deeply rooted in the history of China despite its rise to rapid modernization has kept CHINA SIR much like the rest of China with a foot in its mystic past. This realization along with a team of forward thinking producers and engineers led SIR to a new beginning and new yet very ancient paradox of what it will mean to be hip hop and be truly Chinese at the same time.
