CHIN CHIN's Interests

| General | Born 1984 in Gothenburg, Sweden – Lives and works i Berlin, Germany since 2003. Currently studies painting at UDK, Berlin under Prof. Valérie Favre since 2006.
My works often portraitist people which not fit in the outside world. I make up my own parallel playground. I try to express moods in the faces of my creatures. I want to spin a tiny string between sweet and scary moments. A lot of inspiration I find in photographs from old side shows and circuses. I find siamese twins, albino families, hyper intelligent monsters, mutated animals and random freaks. I find this people also on the streets and in the faces I meet. Or I take out parts of different myths and stories, like the one about the witch masters in Tanzania which believes that a body part from an albino gives you wealth, and re-tell those myths in my paintings. I also get a lot of inspiration from books I read (P O Enqvist – Nedstörtad ängel /Downfall ), movies (Freaks, Gummo, Black cat white cat), my childhood experiences, art history and a lot of artists, for example Lena Cronqvist, Francis Bacon, Jonas Burgert, Jenny Saville, Henry Darger and Claudia Grassl. A lot of inspiration I get from music and music texts. Mostly I work with drawings and oil painting, but also with film and silk screen prints. I've been working with cut outs, which I glue up the house walls in the name of Chin Chin. Painting for me is a point of collected concentration and a way to play.
