Have you heard of Shen Zhen? A city located in the South of China? that is my home town. I started my musical career there when I was 6 (does that count?) and I am still doing it now. I love it!
I came to England in 1990, and I am now based in the UK. I write traditional Chinese, contemporary and East Meets West style music. Some of my works have been published through different record companies, and library music publishers. I also wrote the signature tune for the BBC World service. Apart from working with musicians based in the UK, through the global musical collaboration network I also work and collaborate with musicians from Beijing, Shanghai and other cities around the world (Rocketears - great people).
To keep me busy, I am also a workshop leader, giving Chinese music and culture workshops to schools, colleges and community groups throughout the UK.
I love to work with musicians from different backgrounds and styles. You never know, the collaboration may have great results that no one expected.
So if you have any musical collaboration ideas please let me know...
