Chi-Recordings was founded in the year 2000 with the express intent to extend opportunities to Hungarian artists and DJs to show their talents outside the borders of Hungary. The name Chi comes from the ancient concept of the flow of energy which fulfills and directs life and all its forms. Music for us is the representation in sound of Chi. The label is trying to break from well-known musical schemes defined sharply into styles. We believe music cannot be categorized by styles and trends, the only way to talk about it is in terms of vibrations and virtual worlds. That basic thought led us to publish pieces of music we regarded exciting enough to share with the public independently of style (be it dub, ambient, breakbeat, techno, house, etc.). This philosophy and our publications will hopefully help establish a receptivity and a willingness to accept in the audience, who are practically lead beyond the commercially acceptable musical restrictions.
