Religion, magic, and the occult. I am particularly interested in Chaos Magic and Qabalistic Ceremonial Magic. I am attracted to the tarot and other forms of divination. I am also interested in sigil magic and servitor creation and programming.
I have little interest in mysticism. I prefer to deal with situations that require results and techniques that produce them.
I like many kinds of music, especially hard rock and techno. I also like softer stuff occasionally, and I have been known to indulge in that trippy new age trance stuff every once in a while. I dislike gangsta rap and most R&B. I'm not fond of country, but some of it is growing on me thanks to my girlfriend's influence.
Movies
I like movies that manage to combine deep character development, complex plot lines, and ample action to keep the story going. Or movies with lots of explosions and cool special effects. I tend to be attracted to movies feature supernatural events or characters, but not usually "horror" flicks. I also enjoy cheesy disaster films that depict physically impossible events, such as The Day After Tommorrow.
Television
I mostly like science fiction shows or crime dramas. In theory I like to watch the news, but I tend to get bored with 24-hour news networks, because they usually report the same non-stories over and over just to fill time.
Books
I like science fiction. Other than that, I usually read non-fiction. I'm always trying to catch up on history, psychology, sociology, and politics. Sounds exciting, huh? And, of course, I read a lot on religion and the occult. In case you haven't noticed, I rather enjoy Phil Hine.
Heroes
Phil Hine, Alester Crowley, Pete Carroll, Israel Regardie, Donald Michael Kraig
I am a novice author of anecdotal, technical, and theoretical essays about or relating to the occult and related fields. I am currently looking for respected online outlets willing to publish my work.

About me:
I've been studying the occult for fifteen years now. I'm a Chaoist, but I tend to work with the Golden Dawn system more often than anything else. I do work with a few other systems as the mood takes me. I have occasionally given lectures on astrology and tarot, and once ran a seminar on ego magic. I also write essays on occult topics, and am looking for respected websites and magazine to publish them. The Witches' Voice is a wonderful vehicle to that end, but I'd prefer to get my work published by as many venues as possible.
My focus is more magical than religious, although I am very interested in religious expression. Let's just say I haven't found a religious means of interacting with the divine that suits me just yet. I'm more concerned with orthopraxy over orthodoxy, so I like to focus on what works more than why it works or whose gods deserve the credit.
I am a graduate student at the University of Kansas. My interests include History, Religion, Psychology (especially abnormal psychology and criminology) , theoretical physics, mathematics, and medicine, although the latter are mostly lay interests.
I tend to be weary of people with overly optimistic or romantic views of reality. Life is not all love and happiness, and the world does not exist to comfort your emotional wounds. I believe it to be unfortunate that so many people today are so caught up in their own self-pity and who is to blame for it that they neglect to actually come up with solutions to their problems, be they material or magical. It's nice to have people to help and support you, and it's good to do so for others, but it's a liability to everybody to expect everyone to rescue you every time you mess up.
Who I'd like to meet: I'm interested in meeting and networking with any serious (and hopefully competent) occultists, or even those who are moderately interested in the occult but have interesting observations to share. I admit that I haven't been too responsive to messages as of late, but I'm trying to remedy that, and if you'd like to open a dialogue to talk shop or just to chat I'll be happy to oblige, time permitting.
I am also interested in publishing my work through diverse outlets. If anyone knows of websites or magazines that feature occult-related articles and which seem worthwhile, please let me know. I'd also love to hear any opinions on my work, especially if you like it; I am a simple creature and flattery works wonders.
You scored as Gandalf. You are Gandalf! This wise, old mage is loyal and brave. He is known for his counsel and advice to his friends and allies during tough times.
"All you have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to you."
You scored as Magician, You are a Magician. Your raison d'etre is to gain knowledge, power, wisdom, and the respect of your peers. If you are ridiculed in a public forum, you either wimper off with your tail between your legs until you grow up, or you come back with both barrels blazing.... but calmly, of course. After all, to show emotion is to show weakness. You'd much prefer to use logic and rational argument and out-cite your opponent!
Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.
Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.
The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.
Wow, you've been a busy bee with the writing! Your last one was interestingly written. I'll weather the hideous phone internet connection i am currently subjected to a little longer tonight so i can give the new one a looksy. Btw... All writers like the attention. thats why we write, so people tell us how fantabulous we are! Lol
WHEREAS the 11th of November 1918, marked the cessation of the most destructive, sanguinary, and far reaching war in human annals and the resumption by the people of the United States of peaceful relations with other nations, which we hope may never again be served, and
WHEREAS it is fitting that the recurring anniversary of this date should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations; and
WHEREAS the legislatures of twenty-seven of our States have already declared November 11 to be a legal holiday: Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), That the President of the United States is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on November 11 and inviting the people of the United States to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies of friendly relations with all other peoples.
'Twas the evening of Samhain, and all through the place were pagans preparing the ritual space. The candles were set in the corners with care, in hopes that the Watchtowers soon would be there. ... In all of our workings, we'd almost forgot, but we had purchased candy (we'd purchased a LOT), ... And so, as they flocked from all over the street, They all got some chocolate or something else sweet. .... As we prepared to return to our rite, One child more stepped out of the night.
She couldn't have been more than twelve or thirteen. Her hair was deep red, and her robe, forest green with a simple gold cord tying off at the waist. She'd a staff in her hand and a smile on her face. No make-up, nor mask, or accompanying kitsch, so we asked who she was; she replied "I'm a witch. And no, I don't fly through the sky on my broom; I only use that thing for cleaning my room. My magical powers aren't really that neat, but I won't threaten tricks; I'll just ask for a treat."
We found it refreshing, so we gave incense cones, A candle, a crystal, a few other stones, And the rest of the candy (which might fill a van). She turned to her father (a man dressed as Pan) and laughed, "Yes, I know, Dad, it's past time for bed," and started to leave, but she first turned and said "I'm sorry for further delaying your rite. Blessed Samhain to all, and a magical night. "
