The Mill fka Experimental Theatre Chicago's Blurbs
About me: We support all theatre that is divergent from traditional American Realism because we believe that traditional American Realism is driving potential audiences away.
We believe theatre must distinguish itself from these other forms of entertainment by heightening the artistic integrity of the work and must capitalize on its greatest asset: the live performer. We are influenced by the work of Ariane Mnouchkine and the Théâtre du Soleil and their creation of a complete and unified experience, a theatrical event which begins when the audience enters the theatre, rather than when the play begins.
A theatre without boundaries is a progressive idea which will help ensure a growth in audiences for the future. We believe that live performance, like all things, must be progressive to survive and that it is our duty as artists to help theatre find a new audience.
Who I'd like to meet: Artists, Actors, Directors, Designers, all people interested in progressive theatre, art and performance.

Please Help Save Our Theatre. In 2001, Victor Sobchak and Andy McQuade founded a theatre company at the Lion and Unicorn in Kentish Town. Over the years we have supported young actors, new writers, up and coming directors and entertained many thousands of people with bold and original theatre. In June, 2008, George Sallis, an actor who Sobchak gave his first theatre break to, surreptitiously contacted the owners of the Lion and Unicorn and offered them large amounts of money to take over the theatre. The owners accepted. It was an offer Victor Sobchak wasn't able to match. We're fighting back. Please sign our petition and help make a strike for what is good and right in this world. Many thanks http://www. ipetitions. com/petition/boycottthelionandunicorntheatre/
if you care about theatre - or just hate it when the rich think they can own anything they want - at the expense of other people's lives and happiness, PLEASE pass this on to those you know will care too.

"I think I have just seen the future of American Theatre.” —Michael Bourne, Circle Repertory Company
“Spiritually barren lives given meaning by fundamentalist religion. Comfortable lifestyles devoid of passion. And the finality of the gun. All reflect what happened to American values . . . and they form the subject of Edward Crosby Wells’ challenging new play, Flowers out of Season . . . one of the best things this innovative theater has done.” —Jeff Bradley, Denver Post
*This play contains violence, sexual themes and language. There are also gunshot sound effects.
