I like a bit of everything... Coldplay, Travis, The Beatles, Fiction Family, Abba, Imogen Heap, Athlete, Brooke Fraser, Lenka, Jars of Clay, Neil Finn, Keane, Tim Hughes, Radiohead, Delirious, Aqualung, Rufus Wainright, Snow Patrol, Queen, Over the Rhine, Feist, The Feeling, KT Tunstall, PfR, David Gray, Sixpence None the Richer, Leigh Nash, Eisley, The Fray, Hanson, Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová, Feeder, Ben Folds, Out of the Grey.
Chloe Francis was born to an American & a New Zealander in the grand old year of 1985. Which makes her an Ameri-Kiwi and 24 years old. Some of her earliest memories include singing mostly by herself because she was too shy to ever sing in front of anyone. In the rare moments she did, you would find her in a bathrobe with a hairbrush belting out Mariah and/or Celine to her nearest and dearest or in front of a church congregation (which not to mention took a lot of coaxing!) Fast forward 5 or 6 years to her teendom, Hanson enters the scene and her gifting takes more of a shape. She dedicates time to teaching herself the guitar and starts writing songs. Joins a few lame teen bands, well they weren't that lame at the time, gets somewhere with band, band breaks up. Life moves. She studies abroad in England, loves it more than anything. Visits Africa for a Summer. Changes her life. Works, lives, writes some more. Falls in love. Her first solo project comes into fruition. Takes a year to do anything with it which brings us to today. Doesn't really want to be a star or anything... maybe just a cloud. She does however want to sing the song she was given inside and maybe touch a few lives along the way.
From the horses mouth... The Tightrope EP was recorded over the course of one short week in Cincinnati, Ohio during which I was recovering from a severe headcold/sore throat and my only aid with some amazingly gorgeous immune boosting tea. And thank the heavens above for it! I worked alongside an incredibly patient and talented producer Ric Hordinski (Over the Rhine, David Wilcox, Phil Keaggy) who really helped give more of a vision to the project and the great Richard Dodd (George Harrison, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, Jars of Clay) mastered it. It was a complete privilege to be given such an thrilling opportunity.
