Hi! Michael Dale Choley is my birth name. All my friends call me CHOLEY. Please call me CHOLEY. Life is only a Breath Away from the Fathers arms. Every day should be like your last. I was born in Detroit Michigan but dad moved us out before the riots. My father and mother raised me in the Mt. Clemens, Clinton Twp. area of Michigan. I have two older sisters Karen, Marsha and two children, Alyia and Christian. My mother Patricia still lives in Michigan. I have traveled all over North America and some in Europe! I am a mutt when it comes to my Heritage. Music is my Love. Everything to me is a Vibration. Down to the very makeup of everything their is SOUND. The very Word of God created the heavens and the Earth. My first instrument at the age of 11 was the Accordion. Later taking up the guitar at 15. Bob Landuyt was my first teacher. Later winning a M.M.A. award while taking lessons at Huber and Breese. I played bass in my first band Cario until we acquired a great bass player. My first band experience left me with a great understanding of music. Horns, percussion, harmonies, guitars, bass, keys, great players and playing all styles and originals. While in High School being in the jazz band and choir with Ellen Bowen as director. We went to Romania as Ambassadors. Later the jazz band at the Macomb community college. My second band was Flashback of course playing oldies. Then doing the top 40,s and Disco circut. From there Ronnie Vanderlip, Bill Gibbs and I and formed Maxx Volume. We did fairly well on the Detroit circuit. Ronnie went on to form Heavens Wish which is still Kickin it in Detroit today and my choice in Detroit Rock! I became interested in recording and learned from Gary Spanolia of Bitter Sweet Alley while recording Enter Volume I with Maxx. Later learning from Robert Dennis at the Disc who was involved in the Motown sessions. I worked in a mastering house while going to school for production and engineering. Mastering for a production mastering house doing mostly Motown and Benson records. Groups like Stryper, Amy Grant, Sandy Patty, Lionel Ritchie, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Petra, etc. No I did not rub elbows with them. I built a studio in my house with my father who is my hero. It was Called First Cut Studios which was in Mt. Clemens Michigan. Doing local bands, demos, and commercials. Learning the art of recording from "Hands ON experience" and playing in many bands whenever I could at night. Playing different instruments on any cuts I could in the studio. Learning the art of engineering and production. I was getting more involved with alcohol and drugs soon ending up lost and not even interested in music anymore. Then my father died on the job site on Halloween. My niece and I finding him. The last picture of my hero in my mind. His last words to me were" Michael play music from your Heart and Please get some Help your Killing yourself" I lost my home my recording studio then gave custody of my children to my niece. I had become a street person with no residence. I moved to New Orleans one more time after being a gypsy through out North America. Trying desperately different methods of abstinence only failing at every attempt. I have lost my right index finger tip, shattered my right wrist, left heal, broke my left and right hand, left thumb and nearly lost my right pinky all while being in altered states trying to work. I was very angry with God! I made a covenant to never play music again. My sister Karen bought me an acoustic guitar while living in New Orleans. I started writing again! Then Katrina Hit N.O. The date was 8:28. Look that up in Romans. I was blown to the banks of the South Harpeth River in Nashville Tn. moving in next to Alex Harvey. Alex a well known song writer and performer. With hits like Delta Dawn, Reubin James, Somebody New, 5 dollar fine for whining. Living on the river in the country is great for song writing.Thanks to Baxter Overton and Jeff Leake at Rau-Wood Retreat who gave me a home to live in. Williamson county treated all of us refugees with Love. As everyone throughout America did. We take care of our own. Finaly I broke down. It took 10 months but I managed to drink myself to death. I remember reading psalm 91 and 23 over and over. I said "God I am the thief on the cross". "I deserve to die!" "I have been a drug dealer, into the Occult, Sex and Porn, broken all the commandments, you name it. I had been bleeding internally and throwing up blood for a week. That final day I had a Spiritual Experience with Jesus and Lucifer speaking over my very Soul. Jesus in a very soft voice said" Crawl to the neighbors I still have a place for you with me." Miss Billy who has gone on to be with the Lord called 911. St. Thomas Hospital brought me back. I had expired in the x-ray room and the staff revived me. Thank you Health care personnel everywhere. I remained in the I.C.U. for over a week. The members of Forest Home Church urged and payed for me to attend "The Discovery place" a in house recovery program for men with addictions located in Burns Tn. They introduced me to AA. Thank you who are involved in recovery. I am now in my third year of sobriety and am working intensely on writing material. This new way of life encouraged me to play again. Judy Greer a very dear friend is also a writing partner. Her husband died in a plane crash May 6th 2005 and through the Father of Light have helped each other heal. We have been writing recovery music since I was blown here by Katrina. God speaks music to me and I listen once again. I had made a covenant with the Lord Jesus to never play again. He let me die so the covenant was broken! I am now free to give Him all the Glory! It never occurred to me that it wasn't God doing these things to me. Think about it. Gravity doesn't know a good man from a bad man. Just natural laws. I thought he was a Tyrant War Lord trying to punish me around every corner. The God of Religion as I was taught by man. He is The Father of Light. He has a lap Big enough for all of us to sit on. He also has a very BIG fridge and your picture is on it! Remember he wants us to Enjoy Life and each other! Everyday is a Testament to his will for me and whoever I may cross paths with. I am his servant now and forever. I am involved with recovery and Spirituality every where I go in some form or another.
