Choogy was formed in the summer of 2006 by a group of friends who had been doing music for years. The concept behind the idea was fun, fun and more fun. With years of recording amd live performance experience, through playing in original local Milwaukee bands, the foursome decided it was time to change things up a bit and put a cover band together. Being long-time friends, practical jokers, and having mutual respect for each other, things started off with a bang. Realizing that they had good chemistry between them, and a variety of influences to draw from, the band soon had a plethora of options to work with. As the weeks passed, the band was learning songs from artists like: Seether, Nirvana, STP, and Foo Fighters. But before long, they decided to break the mold and venture into new territory, with songs from Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cake. The variety of music proved to be a good idea.
Not limiting themselves to one style kept the interest of the band, and presented new challenges every week.
Choogy’s first show was at Fox Run Lanes on Halloween in 2006, where a packed house fed off the energy of the band, and the music.
In the fall of 2007 Choogy was blessed with a fifth member... a guitarist by the name of Doug Lohr, or as friends know him-"Dougy Fresh". Doug helped to complete the project by bringing a fun attitude and a well rounded background in music to the table.
The now 5 piece project, hopes to capture the fun lovin', beer drinkin', Milwaukee party crowd with a mix of dancin' rock tunes and 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's rock hits.
I'm really glad we came out to Tremers saturday night....wow! You guys really blew me away! Janesville is pretty lame, and it was cool to see something so new and different! Hope your gig schedule grows....would love to come and see you again fo sure! Got an idea for a song....Honkey Tonk Woman....instead of "she blew my nose and then she blew my mind...." say "and then she blew my brother...." :) Ciao 4 now, ya'll ROCK!!!!
