Since it’s founding in 1992 by Diane Loomer ,C.M., Chor Leoni has been recognized as one of Canada’s choral treasures, lauded for its innovative programming, technical precision, meticulous intonation, and commitment to the creation of new Canadian choral works for male choir. Whether captivating a live audience with their charismatic approach to choral communication, reaching across the airwaves in broadcast or competition, or singing on one of their award-winning CDs, the lions move effortlessly between musical genres, always aiming to engage and entertain at the highest musical levels. Repeat winners in multiple categories of the CBC’s national choral competition, the choir has represented Canada to critical acclaim in both international competitions and conventions.
Chor Leoni is a leader in the male choral world, acting as mentors not only to local young singers but also to Canadian male choirs that have formed over the past years using Chor Leoni as their model. On the Vancouver musical scene Chor Leoni is a sought-after partner, regularly working with other arts organizations and lending its dynamic voice to community events such as the CBC Food Bank Day and causes such as the hospice and palliative care movement.
Chor Leoni has produced ten CDs on their own record label, Cypress Choral Recordings.
