Chris Alker, aka The Dance Machine/DJ By Night/The Weatherman has dedicated himself teaching New York how to dance. A self taught social engineer, "rhythm scientist" and street philosopher, he began spinning records, yes real ones, circa 1999 in Austin, TX. He carrried on the tradition of the underground electronic radio show, "The Thirteenth Hour," founded by James "Cookiecrook" Craig and Scotty Kleven on 91.7 FM. Branching out beyond radio, he started working as many routy house parties as possible. Teaming with Steve Hardy, aka “Sushi Steve”, they made the rounds turning even the most hopelessly boring gatherings into ass shakin’ dance parties. Since moving to New York in 2004, he has thrown down his rare blend of Sleazy Disco, Dance Punk and Dub House @ The Mercury Lounge, The Black and White Bar, The White Rabbit, 200 Orchard, Capones, Macri Park, Revolver Bar, The Anchor, Gallery Bar, Home Sweet Home, Happy Ending & Love. He recently concluded a long running underground Nu Disco party, "LUSTR", every Saturday night W/ Sushi Steve & Miles Morris, @ Label Lounge, and is the acting manager for
Subtrak, an independent record label specializing in electronic dance music.
