Born into a musical family, and studied classical piano as a child before starting guitar aged 13. Chris studied jazz and classical guitar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London) and the Malmo Conservatoire (Sweden). He gained an honours degree in guitar from Guildhall in 2004
Joint-winner of the Ovation guitar prize 2000, winning a guitar, he also received an award of a guitar from the Barbarolli foundation 2002. He was a finalist in the Gibson Guitar Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival 2004, also receiving a guitar.
Chris has performed at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, Montreux Jazz Festival, Giverny Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival, Nuremberg Festival, Midem Festival (Cannes), the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Her Majestys Theatre, the Old Vic, Scarborough Jazz Festival, the Royal Academy of Music, the London Jazz Festival, and many other venues in the UK, around Europe and the world.
Chris has performed with Jacqui Dankworth, Dave O Higgins, John Helliwell (Supertramp), Mark Heart (Crowded House), Gwyneth Herbert, Jamie Cullum, Carleen Anderson (James Brown), the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music Symphony orchestra, the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra amongst others.
