Chris Anderson is both a young and accomplished musician. An electric and upright bassist his playing is vast and comprehensive. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music and the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase, Chris’ ability covers a multitude of styles and can be heard in many settings.
Taking up the electric bass in his early teens, Chris began his professional career playing jazz, traditional and popular music. It was during his enrollment at the Hartt School of music that he discovered the upright bass. With mentors such as bassist Nat Reeves and trombonist Steve Davis his passion for jazz grew exponentially. Immersed in Hartford’s local music scene he developed a reputation for his proficiency in many styles. Working as a sideman to many bandleaders, and songwriters helped Chris to round out his conservatory education.
Leaving Connecticut to attain his masters in jazz from SUNY Purchase, Chris brought his playing to New York City. Landing film, television and radio work has solidified his position as a sought after and respected bassist. "Playing both electric and upright bass is my life. I enjoy all facets of music and I intend to direct my musical voice in as honest and sincere a direction as possible" Chris Anderson.
