Aloha minions! I'm Chris! I'm a lowly student, live in central Auckland, and am also a freelance photographer... check out my pics and buy some please!

I'm in my fifth year at UoA, studying Film and English. I'm into music (duh), keeping mainly to ska, punk, surf and indie. I also like drum n bass, and metal (but not nu-metal, thats gank as).

I'm into various forms of art... other than the obvious, film making, photography, screen printing, stencil art. Especially love t-shirts!
I love Soviet kitsch, general Russian or Japanese cultural things, post apocalyptic stories, war films, online games, spamming forums, writing bitchy emails to people and moonlit beaches. I want to be a high school media and photography teacher some day (just as a hobby), but I also want to make documentaries which challenge people to think and also celebrate the awesomeness of every day people, and show that ordinary people... aren't always that ordinary.
Lately I've moved more into still photography, and I find a lot of interest in portraits, just of regular people. Whilst having models is really part of the job.. I don't like people who present themselves as models. I find there's something really ironic though in how people model themselves for a camera, they're presenting a pose or a look that they believe makes them look good, but it's really kind of a lie, since that's not how they normally stand/pose/look on a day to day basis... but despite that being a lie, it also shows a lot of their character, and what defines them.. so it's an ironic truth at the same time... is this getting too philosophical? I'll stop... :-P

I believe in freedom of mind and freedom of expression, I support the animal rights movement and seek to end the hierarchical structures which have built themselves upon the blood of modern society. I study geography at university and am interested in urban geographic patterns, especially gentrification, sprawl, urban pollution and adaptation of societies in increasingly growing cities. I ride bikes or skateboard everywhere, I'm strongly against car use where other forms of transport could be used. I think if we are to survive then we need to change the way we live, especially how we see and use our urban landscapes. I consider myself an anarchist, I hope to see significant change in my lifetime towards a fair and just society truly based on freedom and equality.
Religiously I consider myself a Buddhist, but I'm highly open to changing my opinion on this, I don't think anyone should have concrete views, stagnation leads to ignorance, so I like it when people ask me about and challenge my world view.
