Ecology Center	Oct 24 2008 8:39 PM Tell Governor Granholm to Stop Michigan's "Coal Rush" Please take action now to urge Governor Granholm to issue an executive order that halts the construction of new coal plants until stronger protections are put in place against dangerous global warming carbon dioxide pollution – sign the petition to ask Governor Granholm to require the consideration of global warming pollution before air quality permits are approved! Thanks!
Ecology Center	Oct 7 2008 7:30 PM GreenCurrents or Greenwashed?.. .. Has DTE Energy's massive green marketing campaign made you one of the 14,000 customers who have signed up for their "GreenCurrents" program? If so, we're sorry to tell you that the premium you are paying on your monthly electricity bill has bought no new renewable energy - not a single environmentally friendly electron is flowing to your house or business from Detroit Edison's power grid because of GreenCurrents. Worse yet, Detroit Edison (DTE) spent over 85% of its "GreenCurrents" program money on marketing and administration, leaving only 15% to purchase renewable energy certificates (which is not the same as actually buying renewable energy) in its first year... .. Fortunately, the Ecology Center and city of Ann Arbor are proposing a better way for DTE customers who want to truly support and benefit from renewable energy. Our proposed program, which is based on a highly successful program in Texas, requires DTE to directly purchase Michigan-based renewable energy and provide the benefits of price stability and a cleaner electricity system to you - with no corporate spin or spending on greenwashing. Unfortunately, DTE is doing everything in its power to stop its customers from having an option that is green without greenwashing... .. So, please send an email to the Michigan Public Service Commission about your support for the Ecology Center's proposed program and with your concerns about DTE's "GreenCurrents"... .. TAKE ACTION NOW!}
