Chris Byrne plays acoustic guitar & sings from his heart. The singer/ songwriter was born & bred on the NSW Central Coast & has been sharing his music with audiences for many years. Playing in bands for most of his career so far, he has described his solo act as the culmination of a long journey home.
His music is intimately honest and melodic. He sings & plays with nothing to prove and his audience responds with a warmth & openness usually reserved for an old friend. Drawing on inspiration from years of searching for real happiness, Chris is one of those soulfully peaceful musicians that you just want to kick back & chill-out to.
In 2006 Chris earned the No. 1 chart position in the first week of the Triple J Unearthed competition. A few months later he was chosen as an artist in the spotlight for a week and to date he has racked up over 10,000 listens and 3000 downloads on that site alone.
In addition to that Chris won the 2007 Adult Contemporary section of the 1233 ABC Music Awards for his song Glide.
June 2008 sees him heading in the studio to record his debut album, purely funded by presales to his fans.
All this has been achieved in just over 2 years and with very little or no promotion, steadily building a local presence with regular gigs. With this in mind it remains to be seen just how contagious Chris’s music will be.
