Chris Cady has been performing, recording and producing original independent releases professionally since 1993. A regional artist based out of the Black Hills, Chris has toured through Colorado, Montana, western Wyoming(Jackson Hole), and eastern South Dakota as a solo act, and with his bands Brother Otis and Sweatband. His current primary project is a minimalist rock group called Violent Hippie and his solo acoustic endeavor which blends elements of hard folk, rock and punk. Chris' genuine personality and quirky comedy shine through at every performance, as his interaction with his audience seems to be a natural and comfortable ride in any setting, although Chris has been known to lay down some shock value from time to time. Brother Otis has one release "Cooling System Mystery" and Sweatband currently has two recordings available, the first studio album"Inspiration for Perspiration" and the sophomore follow-up "Clinically Proven". Chris has a solo record in the works and release is slated for springtime of 2009. Material on it will consist more of acoustic singer-songwriter action, with accompaniment from Violent Hippie's keyboardist, Tom Gorder.Tom and Chris and Mr Shawn Funk are also working on a double EP of Violent Hippie material, doing more avant and obscure rock lending to their acidpunk soundscape interests. Release is slated for June 2008.
Chris has shared stages and opened up for artists such as Keller Williams, John Hiatt, Soul Asylum, Third World, Jonny Lang, Trampled by Turtles, the Subdudes, Russell Jackson, Martin Sexton, the BoDeans and others. Songs available on Chris' page here is sort of an anthology. Cuts from all three projects are loaded up and rippable. Check it out and enjoy!
Violent Hippie...that's funny. The 1975 VW bus that you bought from Carl W. and he bought from me, was dubbed the "violence van" after I was tired of people calling it the peace van.

Hey Honey, after looking at profiles I've realized that all girlfriends leave corny, cutesy, glittery comments about how much they love their boyfriends. Here's one that better depicts our relationship! Love You!
