I want to Thank You for Checkin' out my MySpace Profile!
I created this profile to interact and network with people and to share my life's story. Now days when ever I network with others the topic is either about what we do or our life’s experience. It’s always about if we can relate. We are always in search of others that we can relate to and once we find that group we automatically stick to them. There’s a big difference between getting along with and relating to. If you get along with someone it means that person is ok or they don’t get on your nerves (in my opinion - lol). Now to relate to another person is more meaningful and trusting because you already understand what they have gone through.
The things that we are glued to are the facts, the quick and easy’s and that life changing recipe — right? I believe we all learn vital information from each other whether you’re being mentored or from a bad experience in life. Most of all, I know people learn and get inspired best when reading about personal life stories. My goal is to share my mini story and hopefully inspire others that can relate with my life.
"Who is this Chris guy anyway?"
I was born in Alameda, California back in ‘76. I grew up living in Section 8 housing. For those who never heard of Section 8 housing, they are for low income families. Thankfully my parents were approved to live there because just to get on the waiting list you would first be screened, enter a pool then stay on a waiting list for months. In short, Section 8 was the last resource for a family that couldn’t afford to rent an apartment. Homelessness would probably be the next resource if you didn’t have any close family members. My parents were the first generation to migrate from the Philippines to the United States in the early 70s so that’s why they had to start here. I am very proud of them for making that life changing step and from starting with nothing. If it wasn’t for their ambitions I would not be here today.
Coming from a filipino culture we pretty much follow what our parents and family tells us to do in life. To show your respect it is tradition to honor the culture code. While growing up I was taught to stay in school, find a trade, stick with it then work for a big name company. Adapting to the American Culture my parents pretty much gave me a free will on what I wanted to be.
After high school I studied to be a graphic designer and did graphic design/marketing in the Education field. Within the 2 years I got my job I moved out to my own apartment then moved back at my parents house. LOL... Yes this all happened within 2 years! The one thing that wasn’t programmed in my mind was the World of Credit Cards. By then I had opened around 5 credit cards and I thought I was unstoppable. I was young in my early 20’s and had many “toys” to buy. Plus, a minimum payment of $15.00 a month — how could you beat that! Well I ended maxing out more than half of my credits cards and things just kept adding up on a daily basis until I couldn’t handle my rent, utilities, car payment, car insurance and up to 5 different credit card payments. I had no choice but to move back home. Thinking that I would get my old room back — yeah right! The only room in the house that was vacant was the good ole’ 1 car garage with the LOUD washer and dryer. So the garage was where I called “Home” for about 4 years.
Speeding up to 3 years later I met up with an old buddy of mine Jason Okuma. The first thing that came to mind were our guitar jamming sessions at his house and just hanging out. I thought we would just reminisce on the good ole' days but more deeper than that I ended up telling him how I was back at home living in my parent’s garage. I was pretty much telling him that I have already accepted my way of living and thought, “That’s Life!” I don’t know how our paths crossed because at the time he lived in Washington and we’ve lost contact of each other for many years. He never lost his personality but something was different about him. We would have long conversation until 4 am in the morning on how to better my life. His passion to help me was what triggered my transformation. I would think why in the world would this guy be on the phone with me just to help me get out of debt and etc. etc.? Why is he showing me secrets on how to do this and how to do that? Little that I knew my mind was being shaped. Soon I have learned many ways to improve my financial status in life. The knowledge I gained from all the resources that was given to me helped take charge of my life’s spending, investing, getting out of debt and most of all living for the NOW.
"The beginning of my downfall."
Thinking back about what I've gone through I was missing the proper mindset. I was living life without a manual. I made more wrong decisions than good decisions and this is what led to my downfall in life. I remember hating to come home everyday because of what was going to be in my mail and answering machine. At the time I didn't have enough money to fill up my refrigerator so I was always dropping by my parents house just to eat. That was my everyday schedule for about a year and a half. Imagine having to deal with that. Have you ever felt that your freedom was being taken away or being enslaved?
Pride was what kept me doing this for years. I did not want to accept any help from anyone, whether it was financially or spiritually. I was thinking that if I did accept any type of help that I was giving in as a weakling. My pride pretty much ran my mindset.
"Proper Mindset is Key!"
Soon I was turned on to many personal development books and started networking with communities I related to. I was encouraged and challenged to find out what successful people are doing and thinking, but most of all their mindset. I'm sure you've notice that I have mentioned mindset many times. Acquiring my mindset is what got me out of life's dilemma. Having a true understanding of your mindset will help you in any situation you go through in life.
NOW I have my own graphic design studio that I’ve been running for more than 10 years, my faith in God has been restored, I am a part of two elite communities; a personal development community designed to empower and inspire and an exclusive underground marketing community who sets the latest in trends in unheard marketing strategies.
With these two communities I am involved with I have applied many strategies in my personal life and businesses that's given me results! Today, it's my passion to help those who struggles in these 2 areas.
And no, I don’t live in that 1 car garage anymore...LOL! I purchased my first brand new home in July 2006 in which I help build and got married May 2007!
"Who I want to Network with!"
It is my desire to meet the "Entrepreneurs of Today" to help achieve their personal goals in personal development, self promotion and provide quality life changing resources.
Finally here's who I don't want to meet or network with.., the gripers, whiners, spectators and people with major excuses for everything. This would save valuable time for you and I. Curious more about me? Visit www.ChrisGatmaitan.com and I will share with you my valuable resources that empowered me to change my personal life and business marketing strategies.
If you want to contact me then email me here on MySpace. I would love to hear YOUR STORY too!
To Your Success!
