Growing up in Church, Chris began singing at an early age. Singing with his mother and sister made him quickly realize that music was a big part of him. His mother and father came from musical backgrounds and continue to play an influential role in the type of music he sings. Moving to Hollywood… Throughout junior high and high school Chris participated in choir. During this time he formed his first vocal group, singing songs from groups like Acappela and Boyz II Men.
The group started singing at school functions. They were given the honor of singing during the opening ceremonies for the Show Me State Games. The group eventually parted ways. It was at this time Chris decided to move to Hollywood, Calif. He saw this as an opportunity to grow musically and decided to attend the Musicians Institute in downtown Hollywood.
Chris returned to Columbia, Mo. after an eight-month span at the institute. He began singing with his friend, a former member of his high school group. They formed a signing duo called Aaron DeVaughn. The duo joined an independent label in Kansas City, Mo., Knee Deep Publishing (KDP). After nearly two years the duo decided to pursue solo careers. At this time, Chris decided to participate in Mid-Missouri Idol, a local contest similar to the television show American Idol. In 2005, Chris became the first Mid-Missouri Idol in Columbia, Mo. This title helped Chris’ name and music become recognized by his hometown and surrounding areas. Chris’ prizes for winning included airtime on television station Fox 38 and radio station Q 106.1. One of his songs was aired on Q 106.1 and he had the opportunity to sing at various ceremonies. One of these ceremonies included singing the National Anthem at the July 4th celebration, Fire in the Sky, which was held at Farout Field (Mizzou’s football field). Chris also received a free pass to American Idol in Chicago and to be the first contestant in tryouts. He didn’t make it past the first round, but it did not detour him from going after his dreams.
After returning from his audition in Chicago, Chris began to form his current band, The Chris Hatfield Band. Chris and his friend Mike Sappington, who played on his song “Missing You” that aired on Q 106.1, started looking for guys to fill the slots in the band. Within a few weeks, the band was formed. During this time Chris also commenced working on his freshman album, My Reflections. He also had the opportunity to have a portion of the album included in a CD released with Back40Records, which is owned by NASCAR driver Carl Edwards. Most recently… Chris has joined a Dueling Piano circuit and plays in the mid west and southern United States. In between his Dueling Piano Circuit, Chris got a chance to open for Gavin Degraw in New York City for a fan related NASCAR event. He also got a chance to play at a NASCAR pre-race concert at Atlanta Motor Speed Way. He recently just moved to Nashville TN where he writing songs, working on his upcoming album and pursuing his dream in the music business.

Yeah, and it all happened so fast.. :) But anyways, I am really mad at you because you took my favorite song of yours off from here to where I can't listen to it anymore and if you don't have a CD that I can buy then I think I am going to be depressed forever.. I might even cry.. Yeah, that's right.. I said cry..
Things are good. I don't live in Columbia and Frank and I aren't together anymore so it's not likely that I will be up there anytime soon. Let me know if you ever come through the STL. Keep me posted on your music! Take care.
