Like the migrant farmworkers I work with, my story has moved up the West Coast. From the Los Angeles area where I grew up, through Oakland's streets and Berkeley's nights, and the forests of southern Oregon, I now work with Spanish-speaking inmates at the county jail, Sureno gang members, Triqui migrants in berry picking camps, and organic vegetables on a small farm, all in Northwest Washington's Skagit Valley.
