Where to begin? I write music that means something to me, in which I delve into otherwise hidden thoughts and emotions, though not without first cloaking them in lyric and tune before I dare release them at all. I love the raw, intimate nature of a musician alone on stage with an acoustic guitar; no smoke, no mirrors, no place to hide; his song his means of connecting with the audience. Few things are as powerful. The greats do so with ease. For this I strive. I play a few instruments (whatever I can get my hands on really), and I'm heavily influenced by the work of musicians I admire so greatly.
When the moment calls for it, I've got a soft spot for plugging in my telecaster and making some real noise--colloquially known as "stabbing some ears" amongst those that frequent dressing room 5 of the amphitheater formally known as Deercreek. For over two years now I've played in a band with 3 other awesome musicians and even cooler guys. We go by the name Borrow Tomorrow. Check us out here.
Currently, I reside in Chicago, which is a stark contrast to the smaller towns in which I've lived most of my life. I'm fond of cityscapes. I'm guilty of eating cereal at any point during the day or night. Buy me an Upland Dragonfly, and we'll be instant friends. Or I suppose you could click the little link over there that does all that work for you, and we'll skip the beer altogether.
Anyway, give the songs a listen. Check out Borrow Tomorrow. Share your thoughts. "I need a reminder that I'm human..."
Check out the Independent Arts and Music Festival (I AM Fest) taking place at the Congress Theatre on Saturday, June 13. Algren joins 24 other bands and numerous artists at this all day 100% local event. Visit www.iamfest.com for more info!

Way to come to Cincinnati on the most sacred of Holy Days, The Super Bowl. I might stop by for a bit though. Hope things are going well, it seems like it. I f I don't get a copy of the album at the show I'll be on it Feb. 7th.
Good stuff Chris! Check out our friends (well, I'm part of it, too) at the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase, too. Maybe you can join us in the spring or the next time you get through central Indiana! Have a great show at the Whammy Bar, I'll be there myself this Friday (with my duo Tulama Bridge).
I'm good dude. I'm just going to school, hanging out with my rabbit, that sort of stuff. I'd be nice if I ever got to see you play again. When you go national stop by Cincinnati. I keep trying to spread the CJ love over the masses. Cheers!
I'll be in Evanston/Wilmette for LilFest (myspace. com/lilfest) in a week. I'll help start the whole thing off with a show at Bills Blues on 9/11. Chicago's Michi will be my violin. Hope to see you and your friends there.
