Influences like silken hanker-chiefs protruding from a suit-coat pocket, long arms, crouching tigers and hidden cell phones, mrs. pac-man and the dawn of no blue ghosts, newborn babies, water, ponds, puddles, valleys; digital or otherwise. Tomorrow, when everyone is everywhere all the time, technology will eventually produce a new set of senses to distinguish the shadows from the shade; the songbird from the song and the bird. Mosquitoes in summer, and the slap-happy safety of little pests and little problems that make missiles temporarily disappear. high school marching bands. Having a guitar and tuning the pegs every-which way and trying to play a familiar song.

Minneapolis-based songwriter Chris Koza has released three proper albums and an EP. The first album, 'Exit Pesce,' came trickling out of a basement apartment in late autumn of 2004. 'Patterns,' his 2006 full-length sophomore effort, received more local acclaim. With the release of EP 'A Friend of a Friend' that same fall, Koza cemented himself as a prolific artist devoted to the craft of songwriting, and eager to expand.
Since spring 2007, Koza has toured extensively as a 4 or 5 piece band with a compelling live show that has introduced people coast-to-midwest-to-coast to this promising young artist. The latest album, 'The Dark, Delirious Morning,' was released on June 7th at classic Twin Cities concert venue First Avenue, and continues to receive strong radio airplay on MPR's influential 89.3 The Current, FM KCMP.
"Koza knocks the listener off balance by pairing his avant-garde lyrical inclinations with precise folk-pop melodies of a largely traditional bent delivered in a clear, pleasing tenor, recalling ’70s singer-songwriters like Jackson Browne and Paul Simon in the process." -- Rob Van Alstyne, Pulse of the Twin Cities; Minneapolis, MN
"Passionate lyrics sung with a determined sincerity are branded with his trademark melodies like a Wyoming steer in a weathered ranch. Backing up his vocals and acoustic guitar are a fine threesome who are more than competent musicians themselves. Threading the needle finely between indie folk and pop-rock, Koza is a musician that modern master musicians like Oberst would cite with reverence." -- www.smother.net/reviews/modernrock.php3?ID=1604
