The Nasty Habits band was born at a backyard housewarming party/volunteer jam put on by our friend Del to celebrate the completion of building his new house. I was playing bass & acoustic 6-string with a folk-rock band called the Elf Kings at the time - Del was our sound man. Gaylord, Bob, & Bruce had been getting together informally in Bruce's basement for a couple of months. Once we all got on the stage together and started blowing out old rock & roll chestnuts, we didn't stop for another 4 hours. At that point it was obvious that strumming a dreadnought wasn't going to be enough to keep me satisfied for much longer.
Our first gig was at a little rib joint a couple of blocks from Bruce's house, in the parking lot of a natural foods grocery store. We didn't exactly blow everyone away, but reactions were good. Most importantly, we learned that we COULD be a cohesive unit in front of an audience. For my part, I also learned that I was never going to play in direct sunlight for 2 hours again without sunscreen, but that's another story. We were officially a band.
Tracy came to see us perform at my invitation in 2005. She must've taken pity on us because she agreed to join up as a backup singer later that year. Naturally, when we realized how much talent was there to be tapped, we coaxed her to step up to the lead vocal position as often as possible. At present she sings lead on about 1/3 of the set, and the percentage is rising as we add new material.
Jill joined up in late 2007, and the addition of her keyboard work has broadened our sonic palette considerably. She also contributes backing vocals.
Eric is our newest member, stepping in on bass in the Spring of 2008. He brings a bouncy, funky sound to the rhythm section. Rumor has it he can be persuaded to add the occasional vocal as well. Hmmm...
From the outset, this band has always been about having a good time - "Party Music for Grownups". We've been at it for 5 years now. We have fun, and our audience does too.

No, not yet she doesn't like me posting to her on myspace because its weird to have mom post where her friends are, or something like that. Your site is really cool how do you create all the affects on your profile?
Hi everybody, just here to say a big thanks for all your support. The new workshop is well and truly up and running and the custom cabs are now available to order. All the best, Stevie Flynn.
Thanks much for the comment on Dirty Deeds... it's not too hard to do that one justice after all. I see that FT is back and fully operational... we can all go back to whatever it is we used to do now! Yay.
Good music! I see your playing on New Years Eve! Did you check out the picture I posted for Barry? I don't recall who your friends were though. Ah to be young again. Your still in Portland after all these years. I'm down the road in Eugene. There is something to be said for the beauty of Oregon. Happy New Year Chris! Kathy
It's my restored VOX Hurricane. Had a photo session for my new CD of 70's hard rock cover tunes. I'm calling it "Blacklight Nights". That's just the first shot that Jim Dorothy sent me last night.
