The ministry of Love in Action Asia was formed as they heard the call to start a work in Thailand, amongst the Buddhist people. Just six months into the work there, the December 2004 tsunami brought devastation to South East Asia. Their desire was to bring hope and aid to Thailand's coastal villages in the wake of the disaster. Their team was on the scene just days after the wave hit.
Their goal was not only to bring them aid and then return to business as usual, but to stay, living among the people in order to share the love and the good news of Christ Jesus. The tsunami opened an unprecedented door for the gospel, and through the devastation, God birthed a new work -- Calvary Chapel Ban Nam Khem!
Their service in Thailand has brought into focus the need on several fronts -- first for the lost of Thailand, and also for the needs of Thailand's neighboring country, Burma. The hope and livelihood of the Burmese and its ethnic minority have been crushed by a brutal military regime for nearly 60 years. Thailand has absorbed hundreds of thousands of Burma's refugees, and most of those refugees are comprised of Burma's largest ethnic minority, the Karen. Love in Action has heard this call, too; and they are committed to help in whatever way they can.

In 2005 I started writing songs that I hoped and prayed would bring glory to the Lord. They are all original songs that tell of the change that has happened in my life since turning my life over to Jesus Christ. My prayer is that the Lord will use these songs to reach others with the good news about Jesus. Jeff Norman and I have a street ministry where we play these songs on acoustic guitars downtown in Placerville. It has been an incredible blessing so far. That is where the name Hangtown Prophets comes from. Placerville used to be known as "old Hangtown." A prophet is someone who brings a message from the Lord. We do not claim to bring any new revelation from God, but we do proclaim the radical message of hope, love and truth found in His word. Our CD is finally complete, and we have finally found the guitar player and drummer we have been searching for! After playing in several Metal bands for around 16 years I had grown tired of the dark messages I was writing. I knew the truth about Jesus Christ but I had wandered far away from Him and it led me into a lifestyle that was filled with alcohol and drug use. In 2000 I turned my life over to Jesus. He has delivered me from the bondage of those things, and I know I will be with Him in Heaven when I die. He has given us hope and a new life! He gives eternal life to all who repent of their sin and place their trust in Him. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life" It says in Romans 3:23 that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is holy and perfect and God cannot have fellowship with sinful man. If we die without forgiveness of our sins we will be eternally separated from God in Hell. John 14:6 "Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." God loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and to take the punishment we deserve, so that we could have a personal relationship with Him. All who call on His name and ask for forgiveness for their sins will be born again and recieve eternal life! They will be made right with God. We are all so thankful to be able to play music for the Lord now! The songs on this cd are a wide variety of musical styles. I hope you find a song that speaks to your heart. Yeah man, it's my tune. David Finch will be recording vocals (and maybe some piano?) for me next Saturday for this song and possibly another one, if things go well. That's the plan anyway. I never thought I would be playing guitar over drums but that's exactly what I'm doing these days. If only my voice was better, but oh well, I'm happy with what the Lord has blessed me with!! I hope all is well with you and the family. Things have been a little crazy around here lately, but I'm surviving! I've been doing the P90X exercise program and it's kicking my butt, but I've already dropped some significant weight in the last 3 weeks. what up chris. ya i have been doing great. im living with my sister right know but just so happens tonight is my last light here at my sisters house because 2nd year starts tomarrow!!!. im heaka stoked 2nd year is basicly leadership over 1st year. compleete leadership. 2nd year realy is ment to pull out the leaderinside of all of us in gods eyes. its deffinitaly going to be streatching in its own ways. but basicly all 2nd years rulls are, are be an example to the firstyears. whitch is going to be supper chalingeing in its self. hay man we should go hang out some time. teach me your ways on the guitar. love ya man.
Hey bro, thanks for the song comments. The song did turn out pretty well, but I think I'm going to rearrange the vocals some towards the end of the song. I don't know if it's exactly the way I want it yet, but it's pretty close. I may also get someone else to do the final vocals before I move it from just being a demo. Anyway, we will see. I should have another song up in a few weeks. The next song is a little more tricky to record than this one. Have an awesome 4th of July weekend! Mike
p.s., I don't know if I told you but I bought a Mac Mini and it's great, but I can't figure out how to record guitar using Garage Band with the M-Audio guitar interface unit. I'll eventually figure it out I guess. Until then, I'll just keep using my PC with Mixcraft. Later
