About me: Here's something simple about me. I don't enjoy filling out these things "about me". No matter what one says, it comes across as either trying too hard or not trying enough. Ack! Oh well - here are a couple of basic, basic facts. Dig in for more.
I'm the singer / songwriter / guitar player for the band The Critical Darlings. We're based in Athens, GA. You can learn all you might want to know by checking out www.criticaldarlings.com. I'm also a photographer by trade (although, the band has definitely taken up more of my time lately). You can see my photography at www.concertshots.com. Other than that, I guess you can come in and check "me" out for yourself.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet me at 6 years old and me at 85 years old. I'd like to get the three of us together to discuss things. I think I'd be able to give the young me some special insights. I'd like to reconnect with that kid that I sometimes still see in the mirror and I'd like to give him a couple of warnings also.
Even more importantly, if the old me is in any way lucid, I'd like to GET advice from him. The three of us can just hang out, listen to music and eat SweetTarts. Well, maybe we'll have to ground up the old man's if he hasn't got teeth anymore. Or maybe he can handle Pixy Stix. Yeah, that'll work.
By the way, for those of you who have requested to see these pics, here's a few of the people I've already met in this here fancy, shmancy little slide show! Enjoy and feel free to comment on the photos by going to the photo section! ROCK!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me crash last night! It was so good to see you and I'm so glad I got to come up. The shows were a blast (regardless of what you say... it was fun and totally worth the drive!) I'm sad we didn't get to hang out very long, but I enjoyed it and needed the break from real life. (You know how important little things like that are to me and I love you, Manda and the rest of the Darlings like you wouldn't believe for being so sweet!) Like I told Manda, let me know when I can invite myself up again (or, ya know, y'all could invite me up... just sayin..... ;) ) and we can visit a bit longer. And let me just say "I told you so"... you made it through the shows and the Darlings and YOU looked and sounded great! I was never even worried and you know that. Love ya!!
Hey, so ya know how I adore y'all's cover of Rebel, Rebel? (like a lot...) :) How come on the live recording it sounds quiet and far away? If the answer is "b/c it's a live recording" then have ya thought about doing an actual cover of it in the studio? I want it on my playlist, but it doesn't showcase what y'all can really do on that song... (even w/o the lipstick visual... lol) Just a thought. *Love & Hugs*
My sister is buried in Camden, though I must admit ignorance as to the name of the grounds. I can find my way to it though! I feel the same way about cemetaries, they are like parks, only quieter and with an aura about them. Great places to reflect and meditate.
Hey happy belated xmass and a happy new year!!!! Not to mention bdays and what not! You know your due for a good year now right, seems bought and paid for. Love the new pict. Is this in Camden or Lugoff? Nobody goes for the cool old school headstones anymore it seems. Hope you are hanging in there, our best to you and Amanda.
"We always love having you there and you make me do a better job than I would've."
Awww... Chris! That's got to be the sweetest thing I've ever heard! (Although I have a hard time believing that, with you being such a perfection- I mean, "satisfactionista" ;) Besides, I often think our agreement may have been more about you worrying about me than you needing me, which makes me appreciate you that much more. And, if by chance, I can or do help you out, I doubt it's enough to EVER repay you for all you've done for me.)
Perhaps the distraction of getting back into the rock and doing what you love will be good for you... a sort of renewal. More importantly than anything else, make sure you take care of yourself along the way! I want to see happy, healthy Chris- the one with color in his cheeks and a REAL smile slipping through every once in a while :) I mean it, mister!!
Love ya lots!! (And tell Manda "Yo!" since we're all picking different greetings apparently ;) ) I miss y'all!
I love the fact that I talk to you, and yet you still feel like you should write a blog comment. That being said, well of course I do it! That comment was to be a bit more long term...duh!
I hope you're doing alright. Did you take a photo of the beard before you shaved it off?
Dude, he's making me an omlette right now as we speak. He makes awesome extra crispy bacon and oragamiesque napkin sculptures. Michelle is out with Ronit shoe shopping and discusing the fiscal responsibility of the Wisconsin cheese market. So put that in your gross national product and smoke it!
Sorry to hear about your latest setback, but I know you'll get through it. You're one of the most resilient guys I've ever known and your ability to stay focused and keep your priorities straight is a tribute to your character. Feel free to call me anytime and we'll catch up on things.
