Chris was the bassist with Seattle's Vegas In Flames, a band he played in with ex-Coffin Break (Epitaph Records) drummer Dave Brooks, prior to reinventing himself as you see here. Chris also toiled in indie and/or punk bands too numerous to mention through the 1990's and 2000's, and with these acts variously played The Sunset Tavern, The Crocodile Cafe, The Fun House, Chop Suey, El Corazon, The Rainbow, The Monkey Pub, The Fenix Underground, The Lobo, and the beloved but now defunct post-Sit 'n Spin joint, Hideaway.
Anyway, Chris loved playing with Vegas In Flames but grew restless with the sideman thing at some point. Around then he began referring to himself in the third person on public Web sites and, more importantly, recording songs in a digital home studio. He laid down vocals, guitar, and bass on these latest recordings. Andy played drums. Steve, a survivor of New York City's club circuit, is playing bass with the live band currently. The band that is Chris Mess has a sound firmly rooted in the indie punk aesthetic, with a smattering of absurdity and vocal craziness a la The Mars Volta or The Darkness. The Chris Mess EP has received airplay on KEXP 90.3 FM's "Audio Oasis". Chris Mess is playing local shows NOW.

We'll have two bands performing and then the movie at MIDNIGHT Bands: Church For Sinners and The Greatest Hits Doors at 9pm Bands at 10pm RHPS at 12am You can see the movie from the bar and the all ages section(same screen) This is a great chance for promoters, bands etc, to promote to a wide range of potential fans (bring your flyers etc.) also post your posters on our walls.
