Singer Songwriter Chris Nettleton has been impressing crowds from coast to coast with his unique brand of what could be best described as progressive/alternative/folk. A powerful vocalist and songwriter, Chris shares his tumultuous life experiences through vocally charged and hard-hitting songwriting. An orphan from a young age, Chris grew up all over Canada. Over the years he has called HALIFAX, FREDERICTON, TORONTO, VICTORIA, VANCOUVER, PETERBOROUGH, BANFF, CANMORE and EDMONTON home. Chris "beat the odds" and rose above certain experiences, turning them into fuel for intense songs and emotional performances. Musicians such as Jeff Buckley, Eddie Vedder, Sinead O'Connor, Ani DiFranco, Gordon Lightfoot and many others influenced Chris to make his own mark on the Canadian music landscape.
Much of Chris' musical ability was honed in FREDERICTON NEW BRUNSWICK. Creating and hosting a musicians forum at THE CAPITAL BAR, he transformed the TUESDAY NIGHT into the hottest open mic night the city had ever seen. He also created the CAPITAL COMPILATION, a collection of original works by many artists that had graced THE CAPITAL stage over the years. The night, almost five years after its inception is still going strong today hosted by Alex Bailey. Chris was also deeply involved in the local music scene playing shows not only locally as a solo act but also abroad as front man of the original alternative/melodic rock act GIVENSTONE. The band was also featured along with many other local bands on the first installment of the FREDDY's ROCK PILE compilation. For more information on Chris' FREDERICTON, BANFF & CANMORE musical endeavours see his website at www.chrisnettleton.com
At the age of 19, Chris embarked on a hitchhiking and busking trip through Canada and the US. He was on the road for 2 years. Sleeping on rooftops, jamming in California and playing the occasional folk festival, Chris finally found himself and his passion. Since then Chris has lived and performed in virtually every region of Canada. Chris has had the opportunity to share stages or been an opening act with notable Canadian chart-toppers such as DAVID USHER, DAHMNAIT DOYLE, 54-40, BRIAN BYRNE of I MOTHER EARTH to name a few. Currently working on his next CD you can catch Chris at various venues in and around southern Ontario.
When asked what the new Cd will be like he replies with an excited grin and says:
"It will be the culmination of who/what I have been up until this point. All I've learned. My hopes and dreams, all the pains and loves, good times and bad will be stamped on this record for the world to see. It's my heart on a plate. There will be piano, strings, backup guitars and vocals with a little handdrum thrown in here and there..maybe even some flute....I want to express what I hear in my head and heart to the best of my ability. "

Strange day. After watching a documentary about streakers suffering from over exposure, I took a nap. It was a short one. I woke up a midget. At first I was freaking out, jumping around, trying to reach the wall phone. It tired me out. So I sat on a foot stool and placed my face in my hands wondering why this had happened to me. In the middle of self-pitying I started noticing how much fun it was to kick and swing my feet. I was smiling again, and found myself running through the house at full speed... wrestling with my now giant puppy. Oh, the joy! I hadn't had so much fun in years! We laughed and played and laughed until we both fell asleep exhausted on the living room floor. Then I woke up and ruined the whole damned thing.
