Newfoundland singer/songwriter Chris Picco caps off an exciting year with the CBC Galaxie 2008 Rising Star Recording of the Year Award nomination for his sophomore album 'Ferris Wheel'. Picco currently has a number one song on the East Coast Countdown for Ferris Wheel's second release, 'Far From Him' and he's just debuted a music video for the single 'I Always Fall in Love'.
Picco released 'Ferris Wheel' in 2007 after returning home to Newfoundland from Toronto. In rotation on CBC, college radio and FM stations across Canada, 'Ferris Wheel' is still gaining momentum.
Besides co-producing and starring in his first music video, Picco also co-produced and wrote the score of the independent film 'Hungry Ghosts' with his production company, Three Asthmatics.
It's been a busy year, but Picco managed to tour Eastern Canada this past fall and showcase at the CBC Singer/songwriters Circle at the MusicNL awards in November. With a new album in the works and upcoming appearances in Halifax at the In The Dead Of Winter Festival and the ECMA Blue Bird North Songwriter's Stage in Corner Brook, 2009 promises to be another exciting year for Picco
