I love talking about literature.
So let's chat :D.
About me:
I'm Christine.
I go to college.
I'm messy.
I'm eclectic.
My socks almost never match.
I have no idea where my life is heading.
Sometimes, it's exhilerating.
Sometimes, it's not.
Sometimes, I like to write.
I have more books than I do time to read them.
I want to travel the world.
Psychology fascinates me.
Sometimes, I'm a people watcher.
If I was a super hero, mathematics would be my arch enemy.
Organic food makes me smile.
Sometimes, I curse excessively.
I've been known to dance in the rain.
I have mad procrastination skillz.
I have dance parties when I'm home alone.
I sound my barbaric yawp over trampolines of the world.
Let's go for a walk.
Let's talk.
Let's put together puzzles on a rainy day.
Let's go on an adventure.
Simon says, "Get up and start living."
"I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good."
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"
"I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
"You must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, 'Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.' Don't be resigned to that. Break out! Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular, even though the herd may go, 'that's baaaaad.' Robert Frost said, 'Two roads diverged in the wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.'"
And HEY! Are you doing anything Saturday? Warped Tour is gonna be tearing up San Francisco, and I'm going with a coworker and I think she's bringing a friend, I'm not sure. Wanna come? =) You'd have to buy the ticket and bring money for BART, but I'm driving and Ripon is on the way, so we could totally pick you up and bring you with us if you can come!
BUT, that doesn't mean we still can't get together and do something! :D Wanna catch a movie or go shopping and grab Starbucks or Jamba Juice? Only thing off-limits is the new Transformers movie: I've promised Jovany to see that with him. Anything else is fair game, though.
*sigh* Okay, so a FURTHER complication: apparently, tickets are not currently available. I believe they are sold out. UGH! But don't give up on me yet: sometimes tickets become available within the last few days leading up to an event, that's how I got my MCR tickets the last time I saw them in concert. So I'm going to keep checking back on ticketmaster, and with any luck, we'll get tickets. If we can't, then let's figure out a day to escape to SF anyway! It's a big city, we'll find something to do. =)
Update! Okay, so I totally just now realized that my summer course would conflict with the Pink Martini concert...IF we went on a Thursday! So here's my amazing plan: we go to the Friday show on the 26th. Then I dose up on coffee, because the very next day I am going BACK to San Francisco for Warped Tour! :D Speaking of which, you are welcome to come along: my work friend Shiloh is coming, and she's bringing one of HER friends that I don't know, and I think they might branch off on their own anyway, so if you want to come too, the more the merrier. That is, if you want to travel to and from San Francisco for two entire days in a row in my non-air conditioned car, mwahahahaha!
Lol, I know the feeling of living at school! Hrm...it looks like either Fridays in the afternoon or early Saturdays or Sundays is our best bet. You free any time soon? What should we go do?
Excellent: next pay day, I'll nab the tickets. I'm glad you liked them; I think they've only got about three songs on their playlist, but they've got a playlist where you can either listen, download, or buy on their page as well; that one's got some more. Youtube is also good: some good ones I like are "Sympathique", "Hey, Eugene", and "Donde Estas, Yolanda?"
Massachusetts? Neat! Will you be going to the coast? I've heard it's very pretty.
Seriously, how long has it been since we've seen each other? Like over a year or something, I think! We should totally try to get together at some point. Hrm...let's see: I've got school Tuesdays (pretty much all day), Wednesday's (until about four-thirty), and Thursdays (again, all day), and then I usually work most other days and sometimes on Wednesday after class, usually in the evening. I work early this Friday, but I owe my dad a visit, so I'm going to try to see if he wants to get together for dinner. My work schedule is the same for the following Friday, though, so I'll be off by twelve-thirty in the afternoon, if you want to get together then. =]
If you like them, let me know and I'll get the tickets together so that way we won't be separated and you can just pay me back later. I was thinking I could pick you up at your house and we could drive to Oakland, then take B.A.R.T. to SF since the thought of driving in SF scares the sh*t outta me and parking would be insane. If you're up to it, we could leave early and make a day of it! =]
I've been fine. My life has pretty much been school, work, homework, rotate half a turn and repeat lately, with very, very little in the way of excitment. :/ What about you? How art thou, Christine? Gone off to London any more? ;)
YAY!!! :D Pink Martini is amazing; their music is sort of like 1930s or 40s jazzy lounge music goes international. They have songs in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Arabic, etc. Check them out on myspace music and let me know of you're still in. =]
School is crazy. I'm having a couple of issues that will hopefully be resolved soon. I, too, need employment so I can pay for a conference in March. I'm co-leading a Bible study this year, which is so much fun, challenging and worthwhile.
I'm sorry. I should have alerted you personally. =) Forgive me? & thank you. Oh, and don't try to put my brilliant with yours. Two amazing, unmovable forces should not collide. =D
