One of the greatest sensation for the fans of electronic music, was definietly Carl Cox’s DVD which came out this Fall. The Hungarians should be especially proud because the 24/7 documentary film had a Hungarian producer (Béla Molnár the head of BPM) but also a lot of Hungarian artists were involved in creating its OST. One of the most outstanding compositions was made by Quasar, who is represented by 3 tracks on this DVD! The Quasar is a popular joint project of Chriss Ronson and Kőteleki Ricsi.
As the first song, Coxy choose the “Shining” from Quasar which is followed by “Absence”, the excellent track of the talented Hungarian artist, Duel. The third track in this series is another Quasar tune, the original version of “Nectarin”. This astonishing Hungarian E-music enumeration is continued with the extended version of “Gotta Move” the huge hit made by Duel and Gasper. This still wasn’t enough for Carl Cox, he inserted Muzzaik’s remix of “Take Me High”, a track made by Mavann (Krisztián Dobrocsi), into the long line of soundtracks. Just to give the devil his due, Coxy added another remix of “Nectarin” to the tracklist which was made by an excellent Hungarian producer, namely Add2Basket. “Nectarin” was released a few days earlier at Foundation Records on a separate EP. The Trandel name may sound familiar to a lot of people because it’s the latest project of the Hungarian producer and DJ duo of unmatched talent, Yvel & Tristan. Their song, “Aspera” got selected in two versions (the remixes of Mihai Popoviciu and Nikola Kunich). This venture of the duo, who are good friends and colleagues with Chriss Ronson, got a flying start with “Aspera” first came out on a Renaissance release namely on the Renaissance Hungary compilation, mixed by Chriss Ronson. They couldn’t wish for a better start, for an E-music project!
Above all of this we have to mentione that these tracks were released by Foundation Records and Cre8tion Records, Chriss‘ own Labels.
Another good news regarding Chriss Ronson, not so long ago he joined the legendary team Fabric Publishing from London. With this decision he permanently fixed his place in the international elite.
We can suspect that after this an exceptionally large number of the new Carl Cox DVD are going to be ordered from Hungary…..
Prime time at Chriss Ronson and Yvel & Tristan
Our latest news from the trio which has been a perfect example of cooperation, isn’t about prime time at one of their mega parties or at least not directly...
Maybe all three of them were thinking about the memory of a prime time DJ-set when they created “Primetime”. One thing is for sure: the action packed summer, which was rich in releases, is concluded by Chriss, Yvel and Tristan in to an amazing track consisting of the sounds of fragmented memories and powerful emotions. The result is a pleasantly minimalist deep track which discourages anybody from labeling them under any style. From their thousand faces this is the most “handsome” and it suits them pretty well.
Ricky Inch, who is the head of Ceremony & Cabrio Records, made two remixes for the original track. Because, this is where the Primetime EP was released on the 9th of September. Ricky Inch who is living in the Estonian Tallin, also known as Ricardo Da Funk or Housefly is in charge of the popular label C&C in cooperation with the Spanish Dave Storm. The C&C intensely represents itself on all 3 days of the Amsterdam Dance Event… Back to the remixes: Ricky made two enthralling remakes for the original, he added one dub and a saxophone edition to this release. It was undisputedly a good idea. The creator of the 3rd remix is none other than the also internationally well known, Hungarian producer genius Forteba, who already made two solo albums at the Plastic City, moreover he is already working on the third one…
Well, with this many prodigious and godsend talented musicians in one bunch, this EP is sure to be on the dancefloors for a long time or to stick to the play on words in primetime- not only in the trade but also in the parties musical menus!
The Quasar & The Pressure Take Me Over (Part 1)
This exciting new package from Ready Mix Records is a track appropriately called “Take Me Over” brought to you by The Quasar & The Pressure. This unique composition comes in 2 parts with the first part being this one, and has been remolded into 5 versions for an extended audible treat.
The original is an elegant blend of contemporary depth fused with disco and progressive house that would make Giorgio Moroder proud. Never overbearing, slamming from the get-go, it’ll get dancefloors quaking and shaking.
The first remix in the release is masterfully done by Gorge, aka Pit Waldmann. Gorge is a regular in the 1 spot in the Deep House genre section at Beatport. He began to produce his own music in the mid 90’s. His own productions and remixes appear on labels like Destined Records, Suruba, Murmur, Plastic City, Freerange, 8bit, Ministry of Sound and with his radio partner Greg Silver on Yellow Tail Records, Gorge also hosts the Plastic City radio show.
As Gorge takes on the first remixing job, his interpretation takes off subtle intensity and simple power turning into a lush and deep, late-night affair. His techier, subdued approach is a more laidback reincarnation of its former self. Sensual vocals enunciate the title track and have a prime location in this remix.
Other talented producer Sebastian Davidson is back at the helm of the 2nd remix job. He offers us an unequivocal; no nonsense endeavor worthy of infinite listens. It’s a crafty, cleverly built interlude that’s pleasant to the ear and soul. Its soothing, well-balanced groove is a great opening or closing track or can pave the way for whatever follows it.
All three tracks will captivate the hearts and minds of listeners in various ways as every track has its own unique style and mindset.
Stay tuned for Part 2, released in two weeks from now, with remixes by Eelke Kleijn, K-Bana and The Latenta Project.

Reviews:
The Quasar & The Pressure - Take Me Over (Part 1) (Ready Mix Records)
Starting out as if it’s going to turn into a mid-90s MAW track ‘Take Over Me’ quickly shows it’s not the average filler prog and is one of those few releases which flawlessly meshes styles and hypnotizing you almost immediately. Sultry synths, vocals with spacey FX and a deep, rolling bassline give it a groove which would work on most dance floors and the Hungarian trio show their class in keeping it interesting without resorting to any gimmicks to keep your attention. The Gorge remix is a more subtle and low-key, perfect for late night sessions. Reviewed by Rob Warner for Our House Magazine, UK
Dj Chriss - Horváth Krisztián - was born on 26th of October, 1977 in Budapest. The thought of playing music came at an early age, he built his career step by step, working hard. He made an entrance behind the turntables as early as 1994 and has been a frequent guest of the best clubs of Hungary. In 1997 Club Korona became the official stage of BPM ( Booking Promotion Management ) and Global Underground Management which meant performances of John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and similar well-known names. Krisztián was resident here so he had the honor to be warm-up DJ at all events. The mix album of Nick Warren - Global Underground from Hungary - was recorded here as well.
In 2001 BPM and GU moved to HOME in Budapest where Krisztián could play next to the best ones. In the same time he was the resident in Pacha – Hungary for 2 years. Soon he got invitations from abroad. He played at Love Parade in Berlin, at the Creamfields, Summer of Love and Hradhouse festivals of Prague just as in almost all of the neighbouring countries. On July the 26th he was invited to one of London's superclubs, The Cross to an event called Renaissance night. It was there that one of Britain's most prestigious magazines, MIXMAG interviewed the young talent. This was followed by appraisal on the Dutch site www.xpander.nl.
The first invitation to Tokyo came to Anthony Pappa's Global Underground debut party. He has been a regular guest in Tokyo and Osaka since then.
In 2003 his first mix CD is published called Directions.
He founds THE QUASAR with his friend Ritchie. Their first track Together is played in John Digweed's radio show on Kiss 100.
In 2004 he founds his own Label called Foundation Records, where his next mix CD named the Trip is released.
In 2005 his new maxi Cd and vinyl October is published which brings acclaimed fame. It enters John Digweed's and Hernan Cattaneo's hit list and is also played in three different versions in Digweed's Kiss 100 Radio Show. Hernan played it at Metro Dance and it is liked by names like Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Desin Masyello to mention but a few.
In 2005 Krisztián gets invited to Slovakia's biggest party to Tiesto's on Tour in Bratislava.
The same year he starts an own online radio programme on www.justmusic.fm which is called Monitor. Soon it became the most popular online radio at Hungary. Live sets were played here by James Zabiela, Anthony Pappa, Desyn Masiello, Nick Warren etc…
In 2006 he made a tour in Thailand where he was lucky enough to play at the world famous Full Moon party at Koh Phangha entertaining 10-15 thousand people. He played also in several clubs at Koh Samui.
In 2006 he was asked to make the first official mix Cd for Just Music fm. This was followed by a tour with 14 stops.
In 2006 an exclusive new mix album - named Live - was released, four of the tracks were written by The Quasar, but all the others were remixed by them!
In 2007 The Quasar was asked by John Digweed to make an exclusiv half an hour producer mix, only from their own material, which was played in Transitions podcast.
Since 2001 he is DJ of the Year and gets awarded Mix CD of the Year on several websites. Besides his label and Quasar get awarded first or second prizes.Chriss represents a unique music style. It makes no difference if he makes a warm-up or a full time performance, his play's characteristics are always quality and exclusiveness, creating an incomparable atmosphere in any party he performs at.
