Chris Selman is a singer/songwriter in the classic style of the early 70’s troubadours. The single ‘In The Morning’ combines a life affirming ‘whistle while you work’ melody that draws you into the deceptively simple lyrics that are refreshingly angst free. A gentle world weariness replaces empty rebellious posturing. There is a new dawn freshness here, a song that’s easy craft flows and weaves encouraging you to sing along, staying in the subconscious like a half remembered dream.
Even at twenty-three, Chris is a veteran of Liverpool’s open mike scene where he has built a formidable reputation and a modest dedicated following. His ‘have guitar will travel’ philosophy has taken him to similar hootenannies the breadth of the UK. He is the consummate ‘sing for your supper’ and a ‘couch for the night’ bedsit dreamer.

Acoustic showcase hosted by Picnic Area. Featuring the amazing accappella choral sounds of The Voice Collective - they are so good we keep having them back! A first time visitor is Chris Selman, from Liverpool, who writes beautiful melodic songs influenced by Ryan Adams and Bright Eyes. Manchester’s own Freddie Dickson plays his own highly atmospheric version of Americana. And the real deal in this genre is Risa Hall, who grew up with The Ramones in NYC’s Forest Hills - and it shows!
This Monday (2nd November) at the Acoustic Live Lounge, Bar 3345, Parr Street, Liverpool we have Rachael Dunn and Avant Gardner performing. Night starts at 8:30pm and there will be plenty of open mic spaces if you fancy coming down and giving us a song on the open mic.
If you couldn't make it down last week, we had Vinny T Spen and Stuart Todd performing and this is what you missed:
