My influences happen to be my favorite artists such as: Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, The Band, Led Zepplin, Dave Matthews Band, Neil Young, Metallica, Pink Floyd, CSNY, Allman Brothers Band, Alice in Chains, Gavin DeGraw and the list just goes on and on. I try to learn a little bit from each of these artists/bands listed though, some are weighted more than others.

My music kinda has a bluesy sound yet a modern alternative sound as well. Some of it gets a bit strange to the point to where I don't even know how to categorize it. Pretty much whatever I hear in my head I try to put down onto a disc. I guess you'll just have to buy some cd's or dvd's!!! lol
The Chris Shutters Band started off as a blues band. With their own originals and a few covers, they went on to compete in the 2007 Black Swamp Blues Competition. Over 40 greatly-respected bands and artists performed that year for the competition. They ended up winning this National event and continued down to Memphis, TN to compete in the International Competition. They did not win this event, so they chalked it down for experience and moved on. This year they won the 2008 Regional Battle of the Bands for northwest Ohio in the pop/rock category. Out of 121 very talented bands, they moved on to have the honor of opening up for Ted Nugent at the Rib Off on the Lucas County Fairgrounds. They have also opened for artists such as: Bad Company, Molly Hatchet, and Frijid Pink.
The other two members are most definitely an extraordinary addition to this band. Frank “Frankie” May (27), bass player of the band, is one of the most sought after bass players in the area. Opening for "Blue Oyster Cult” with his father a few years back was a defining moment for his great reputation. Playing a six string bass, he joined the band almost two years ago and has continued to carry the weight of this band. The drummer, Dan Jahns (29), is the newest member of the band. He is a phenomenal drummer with the ability to play any genre of music. Chris Shutters (23) is the songwriter, lead guitarist, and vocalist of the group. He is also known for his flute playing, sounding a lot like Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull; whom he met a few years ago. With other groups, he has opened for Eddie Money and Eddie “The Chief” Clearwater. He has also shook the hands of many greats such as: B.B King, Buddy Guy,(rubbed elbows with)Ian Anderson, members from Molly Hatchet, Bad Company, Eddie Clearwater, Frijid Pink, Robin Trower, and even on a political sense, Senator John Glenn and President Barack Obama.
This is a band with unbelievable talent in which performs over one hundred or so shows a year; traveling all over the country doing so. They take pride in their abilities to portray themselves, not only as a band, but individually within the band through their music. The Chris Shutters Band has been heard locally on many radio stations, the news, and even television shows. They know a tremendous amount of cover material in which they perform at local venues. But being that they are an original band, they have together found that their true sound is exactly that. . . original.
