I am the singer you hear on all of these tracks. My stage name is L.U.V.Pain (Living Understanding Versions of Pain) I have worked with Other Boys Productions Jeff "Slick" Brooks (producer), Afrok, Poetic Sun, Soul the Interrogator, Curtis and Co, and others. I'm always down to collab, so hit me up and let's do some thangz.
Influences
My greatest influence in music is my father. He was and is still the funkiest bass player I have ever heard. I grew up surrounded by music, but he never pushed me towards it. He instead let me develop my talents in art.
Sounds Like
Depends on who you ask. I can truly say I have my own sound. You tell me who you think I sound like. I wish I could say I sound like a specific person, but I don't know that I do.
I am uniquely me Chris aka L.U.V.Pain aka Chrizbidge aka Stovall. Dads black moms Irish. Irish Coffee! I've been around music my whole life in all of its varied forms. My father was a jazz musician and my mother was a classically trained singer. My grandfather was a choir director, and I spent the last 7 years bouncing in nightclubs and performing in front of both small and large crowds.
I like to think of myself as a throwback artist. I love soulful melodies and riffs. Tight runs and scats. I look up to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Anthony Hamilton, H-Town, Al Jarreau, Nina Simone, The Commodores, EWF, Charlie Wilson, India Arie, Jill Scott, Floetry, Musiqsoulchild, Prince, Parliment, ERRO, Anita Baker, Take Six, etc. I like to make positive music with a message or a story in the lines. Verbally painting pictures that may make you laugh, cry, become angry, or feel passionate. Music is a story and the singer is the storyteller.
I am also a painter and a poet. Trying to be famous before death isn't a big part of my daily aspirations. Instead remaining interesting and relevent to the human experience is a driving force in my life. I create large size murals and smaller acryllic canvas pieces. I delve into all styles and classifications. Airbrush, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, abstract, portraits, realism, digital. You name it I can create with it without fear. I write songs and poems as well as short stories and philisophical essays. Not all brilliant but interesting just the same.
Oh man, sorry to hear about that, poor lil guy. Monday ended up bein a bad day anyway cause I was still pretty sick. Maybe this next Monday, let me know. Peace
