I'm a simple girl....a tall girl...5'11 to be exact...no, i didn't play volleyball or basketball...i tried modeling and i hated it...i am actually a former ballerina, tap dancer, baton twirler, gymnast, xylaphone player, (that's how i started writing songs when i was 8!) tree climber, lizard catcher, rollerskater, shower singer turned professional musician!!! it didn't happen overnight though....it all started with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS...my brother and i would sing at the top of our lungs and record ourselves on my dual deck emerson tape player...sooo cool...my parents wouldn't let me take singing lessons, so i just went ahead and took private lessons from a lady by the name of AMEL LARRIEUX...so private that she wasn't there...you see, i would tape the GROOVE THEORY (group she was in at the time) lyric sheet on the outside of the shower and take a cold shower so the glass wouldn't fog up and i would sing the whole album from beginning to end...then BRANDY came along and tought me a few things...then, i went to a LAURYN HILL concert...acoustic...and cried...i went out the next day and put a guitar on layaway...and saved my pennies until i could take it home!!! it gathered dust for a while, until i met a lovely young lady named HOPE who introduced me to the idea of singing on the third street promenade. she was the promenade veteran...but in order to play out there without a backing track, meant i had to learn to play the guitar...so her kind brother taught me a few chords an how to pick and what not...i went home and wrote a song called "beautiful eyes", and here i am today!!! i have been playing on the promenade for about three years, and have since sold nearly 20,000 cd's...i am proud to say that i am finally a full time musician!!! (update...i have a job..it gets cold out there on the ocean adjacent streets in the winter!!) I'm in the process of forming my first band (name to be determined) and recording our album with multi-instrumentalist/producer and Berkley School of Music Grad ERIC COLVIN!! Stay tuned :-)
