    BabyLove-Christen Clifford's Interests
GeneralHere's some reviews of BabyLove:

Comically provocative! A comfort to other new parents… the uninhibited Clifford delves into some taboo topics with uncommon frankness and disarming charm. It's daringly personal and, in Clifford's unabashedly generous performance, as engaging as it is provocative.
- San Francisco Chronicle

Taking up big questions, erotic...highly anticipated.
- SF WEEKLY

BabyLove is the most important piece of feminist theatre since The Vagina Monologues.
-kulturevermitterlin

Smart, sexy and funny! Clifford is a wonderful storyteller and is so funny, and she performs with such truth and authenticity, that by the end everyone in the audience wants to be her little one.
-Mladina (like the Eastern European Village Voice)

Christen Clifford is a fabulous writer and performer! Liberating Masturbation was a piece of cake compared to discussing erotic love between a mother and her child. BabyLove goes to places about motherhood that few would dare explore. Speaking the unspeakable is one of my favorite art forms and Christen has the guts to put BabyLove on stage, outing another one of society's dirty little secrets.
- Betty Dodson, PhD, author of Sex for One

A wonderfully moving and inspiring performance! Brilliant! It was brave, provocative, truth seeking, wildly entertaining and funny, painfully honest, tender and very moving. We were all blown away. And touched in our own private ways.
-Candida Royalle, Femme productions, author of How To Tell a Naked Man What to Do

BabyLove was Pick of the Week on: Urban Baby, New York Cool, Maud Newton, The Smart Set, Lux Lotus, Girlie NYC, disinfo.com, 96 Hours.

Here's some reviews of me as an actor:

Christen Clifford … brings a bawdy edge to a role that suggests her ill fortune is a kind of divine retribution. The performance makes a cleverly subtle echo of the story's query into the nature of God.
- New York Times

Christen Clifford is a comic highlight! She gives a performance that requires physicality and personal courage; the actress tears up the stage space and adds textures and emotional heft to the play.
- Boston Globe

Performed with delicious candor by the outrageous Christen Clifford.
- Art in America

Christen Clifford generates heat.
- New York Newsday

Christen Clifford is amazingly focused, funny and terrifying.
- Boston Herald

Christen Clifford’s excellent show … provides much honestly and humor. …an emotionally moving, sexual coming of age story.
- New York Blade

Christen Clifford … is somewhere between a damsel-in-distress and fury incarnate. Clifford has the showy role here and knows what to do with it.
-NYTheatre.com

Clifford is amusingly offhand during Romy's initial appearances and she gracefully navigates the play's difficult arc to Romy's more vengeful side.
- American Theatre Web

Written and performed by Christen Clifford
Directed by and developed with Julie Kramer

Winner Best of Fringe 2006 San Francisco Fringe Festival
Winner Audience Award 2007 Frigid Festival

Here's the PR blurb: From trying to conceive to masturbating holding an infant, from the humiliations of postpartum sex to the eroticism of breastfeeding: in Clifford’s true stories of sex and motherhood she exposes the deepest secrets with candor and humor; by investigating the acutely personal, she illuminates the universal. A solo play with choreography by burlesque star Julie Atlas Muz and directed by Julie Kramer , BabyLove had its world premier in Ljubljana, Slovenia and was sold out and won Best of Fringe at The San Francisco Fringe Festival in 2006.

“Comically provocative! ….a comfort to other new parents….The uninhibited Clifford delves into some taboo topics with uncommon frankness and disarming charm. It’s daringly personal and, in Clifford’s unabashedly generous performance, as engaging as it is provocative.” - The San Francisco Chronicle
