So its about time i put a bit more info about how i got started as a Dj! I moved to London from Sheffield in 97, chasing a girl, that didn't work! Maybe i would have returned as i had nothing there to speak of and a broken leg, however i found Hackney the sadly missed Samuel Pepys pub and the Pembury tavern which seemed to be melting pots of the underground techno scene.I soon became a regular at squat party,s, even going on crutches, what struck me was the feeling that this was a family, back then everyone looked out for oneanother, not the same now i'm afraid!. Sometime in 99 my boss gave me a computer and i got a copy of Soundforge Rebirth, later i moved into a house and one of the guys there had all the music software u could cram in to one pc, this is how it started!. So i was bangin away on soundforge Acid (simple but quality)making tunes mainly for myself when i picked up a minidisk recorder, this was the first time i got my tunes out of the pc. At the time i was working as a cycle messenger and screaming round London listening to acid techno was pretty dam cool i thought? I played a bit of what i had made to another courier who was in a band and he asked me to come play at his gig, i said yes, not realy sure i could pull it off. There were 3 bands and me, some time before the gig my friend introduced me to a guy at the Duke of york pub (courier hang out) he was Andrew Mcgloughlin (Bush,figment,molecular recs) and had a studio across the street, he agreed to help me get ready for the gig. I was to play for an hour but only had about 9 minutes of my own music so i borrowed records i knew from the squat parties, and to his credit helped me piece togeather my set, was the first time i had used turntables, god was awfull! So my first gig, it was at in the Garage in Highbury, quite a famous venue, i was nervious as hell but i pulled it off, i played what i had made right at the end and the crowd didnt even notice the change from real records to something i knocked up in my bedroom,and they loved it!, i thought..'im on to something!'., Chisthe courier, has played in London,Barcelona, currently in Brazil More info to come For more info on the courierdjs crew, bookings or sound system rentals courierdjs .. radio sat 5pm-9pm bst http://www.pirate-radio.org/ info e-mail courierdjs@hotmail.co.uk
